Even better than I expected

Posted Jun 22, 2014
Pros: Location, staff, rooms, hot water, Wi-Fi, breakfast
Location: You'll need to take a bus or a taxi to get to the Historical center or "La Mitad del Mundo" but everything is really cheap.
It's amazing what you get for this price: very friendly staff, clean rooms, hot (really hot!) water, fast Wi-Fi, very nice breakfast, nice location in a quiet place close to Radisson and Swiss Hotel :) I would definitely recommend this hotel! It's worth even more than it costs :)

Good budget choice in Quito

Posted May 17, 2014
Pros: I liked the staff, and of course, the price
This is a no frills but comfortable and inexpensive option if you need a place to stay for a night or two. My room was small but clean, as were the sheets and bathroom. No hot water in the bathroom sink, but available in the shower Miguel, who I believe is the owner or the manager, was extremely helpful with some travel arrangements and advice. He speaks English for the spanish-challenged.. I would stay here again - for the price it is a fine choice!

A Neighborhood Gem

For the price and customer service, this place cannot be beat! The staff is beyond exceptional. The language barrier never deterred whoever was tending the front desk. They were patient and eager to please. After a day of mountain climbing, my room was spotless; with fresh towels and the shower had excellent water pressure. When I visit Quito again, I will definitely return to the Andino.

Cheap, Spartan, Great Staff

Posted Jan 23, 2014
Pros: Location, WIFI, free breakfast, great staff.
Cons: Facilities are very basic, but everything did work (i.e. hot water). I've stayed at much worse places in Ecuador, and this place is a bargain
Location: Great location, a short walk to center of La Mariscal, and a short walk to buses and cabs.
For a hotel that's only $30something per night, this is a great place. The rooms are very basic and what you would expect for a hotel of this price in Ecuador. The location is very close to all the bars and restaurants in the Mariscal. The staff is fantastic and goes out of their way to help arrange things like rental cars, cabs, info regarding local tourist activities, etc. They also have a free breakfast that's not bad. I would recommend this place to friends and family travelling to Quito.

Outstanding breakfast, directions to places

Posted Dec 12, 2013 on Hotels.com
Mr. Miguel was outstanding in several aspects. He provided complete breakfasts that differed each morning with eggs, various bread, juice, etc. He was kind and attentive, giving individual specifics for directions to easily visit places. Rooms were lovely, spacious, and clean. We will definitely return on a future trip to Quito and recommend this place to others.

OK for very brief stay and Backpackers

Posted Sep 21, 2013
Pros: Miguel and staff
Cons: difficult given the phytsical layout. Hot water in sinks
Location: Near Mariscal/ Gringolandia. tourit area
No hot water in sink. Rooms clean and Miguel friendly and helpful, but rooms small and very basic. No hot tap water. OK basic, breakfast. Located in Mariscal - good for tourists, but some distance from city center. Convenient "Supermaxi" supermarket a few blocks away. Spend a few extra bucks and be comfortable.

Nothing better for your money!!

Hotel Andino is perfectly located in the out squirts of La Mariscal, the bohemian district of Quito. It is walking distant to Plaza Foch, the center of the nightlife in Quito, ecovia (metro buses) and lots of stores, SuperMaxxi (Ecuador’s upscale Safeway, QFC, Winn Dixie or Kroger) among those. The owner, Miguel Angel, is a wonderful person, he was always available and answered all our questions in a friendly and thorough way, definitely he made our stay very pleasant. The room was very basic but good enough, our bed sheets were replaced every single day!! It had cable and a decent size bathroom. They served a complete breakfast for free with refills!! The same type at Denny’s would cost about $10. Although tipping in Ecuador is not mandatory, I tipped the waitress every single morning. I like the family environment in the dining room, all guests greeted everybody else. I’ll definitely stay at Hotel Andino on my next visit to Quito.
