Pros: Location. Close to transport, services, shopping district, supermarket.
Room not cleaned properly, advertised as an apartment, but stove not connected, fridge not on, no crockery, cutlerty, glassware or cookware. Non English speaking staff, reception not always manned. The staff did their best, and did well with my appalling broken Spanish. Beds old and uncomfortable. Furniture still covered in plastic?!? Overall, I have stayed in better hostels in South America. Location was good though.

The airport is 55 km from the city and it took almost 2 hours (by taxi US$25.00) to reach the difficult to find hotel, because the entrance is from a side road off Av. Rio Amazonas and the address is not visible from the main road, GPS coordinates are useless in Quito taxis, and there was no telephone number listed. Best to tell the driver it is just past the big Shopping Mall "El Jardin". Get in touch with the hotel beforehand, they will pick you up at the same cost. Carlos even took us back to the airport at 2:30 a.m. at no extra charge! The hotel was a pleasant surprise, modern, very clean and with an elevator.The apartment has ample space with a bedroom, kitchen (with fridge and micro wave but no dishes or cutlery), dining area and a sitting area. The bathroom was a bit small but had plenty of hot water in the shower as well as in the wash basin. There were warm blankets in the cold room and upon request, an electric heater was provided. Facing the side street, it was comfortably quiet. Breakfast was plain but adequate. The location is as safe as it can be in a large city. The hotel has it's own security guard and we did not venture far at night. A nice and reasonable restaurant at the corner of the building and the large Mall across the road with food court on 3rd level were all we needed. Carlos also arranged our (senior discounted) tickets for a city tour and a day tour to Mitad del Mundo at no extra fee.

Struggle to get promised service

They tried, but seemed at a loss to know what to do. upon arrival we were asked, (we think) to wait in a room until "our" room was ready for 1 hour. After two hours they told us to stay because they were having trouble with the other room occupiers? OK, but we had to ask and wait for microwave, dishes, coffee pot etc. It was supposed to be kitchenette, but no items, dish towel, cutting board, mixing dishes, etc. to make it work. It was dirty-not just dust; blinds had drips of food, crude, all shelves, drawers had dirt & grime-ug! We had to beg to get them to reset the wifi and then it worked well. Breakfast included but nothing happened in the morning, there was nothing at tables downstairs, finally they brought us a tiny basket with some pancakes butter and jelly, juice, & coffee. It was very confusing. The folks seemed to try they just need a better plan.

Described as a business hotel, the delapidated hovel looks good only in the photos. Showerhead was broken off, so a garden hose would have the same effect. Cup had toothpaste spittle in it. Soap dish was missing, which matched to threadbare towel which had a dime-sized hole in it. The light switch in the toilet had a short, so it might illuminate, or randomly go dark. If I was 10 kg heavier, I would not have been able to squeeze between the toilet and the paper dispenser to get in/out of the shower... Refrigerator and microwave were disconnected, so maybe broken. No dishes, pots, utensils or other kitchen stuff. Water glasses were obtained from the security guard, as the management left the desk unattended since sometime before 815pm... Doorknob on room only opened with a key, but no deadbolt to keep staff from entering during the night! Bed squeaked like it was purchased used from a house of ill repute. Lamp was not just well-used, it was broken. Breakfast was a joke- instant coffee, lukewarm arepas (no bread, no toast, no rolls) with one packet of jam and one packet of butter for two guests. Eggs were only available for a surcharge! . Morning staff did not speak English. Had to get a taxi on the street because the so-called shuttle service for the local area and airport has not been in existance for over two years!

Minor items of disrepair in the bedroom, tub and sink lacked stoppers, but plenty of hot water and kitchen is a very useful bonus; overall very clean and hotel personnel exceptional; in excellent location only one block from El Jardin Mall and walking distance to La Carolina Park, United Nations, Ministry of Immigration, several banks, etc.

Staff very friendly. Helpful if you know Spanish. Be careful if you take a taxi and do not accept price offered I side terminal. Cost me $10 to go to hotel but $4 to return to air.port and probably could have bargained for $3. Staff very friendly and willing to help?

No one could speak English and I believe I read that there was English spoken there. They were nice and tried to help,it became a game of schrades. I chose the hotel because it was cheap and we didn't get in until 10:00 pm at the airport. I would not stay again. Although the people working there were very friendly. Breakfast was toast,hot chocolate and some juice that smelled very bad.
