Nice hotel in not so nice environment

Posted Oct 1, 2014
Pros: Very ample rooms well furnished and equiped. The breakfast is varied and tasty.
Cons: Sound isolation when parties are held at night in the conference rooms.
Location: Close to the cultural center (Central Bank Museum is a must), walking distance to El Mariscal, easy transportation to downtown.
Barnard Hotel is modern and functional, with ample rooms and comfortable beds, a varied and tasteful breakfast, and served by helpful personnel. However, it is located in a very busy avenue in front of the Army Hospital, so a rear room is recommended. There is one peculiar drawback: when a mariage party is held at ground floor (i.e. saturday night) the music and entertainer will be heard at the first floor rooms until 2:00 am.

Ok for short visits.

Overall qualification for the hotel is ok. The problem is related with the noise of ambulances circulating all night . I was in room 201 and double glass on windows is not enough.

Comfortable and clean.

Pros: The location.
Cons: The price of the telephone calls.
Location: Not far from the Mariscal area.
The hotel was clean and the staff in general were friendly. The location is good as is not far from the Mariscal area and as it is in front of the Military Hospital it is pretty safe.

A Hidden Gem

Posted Feb 9, 2013
Pros: Cleanliness, Food choices and quality, Staff
Cons: On a busy street bbetween 3:00 / 9:00 pm rush hour traffic and all the unpleasantness it implys; although, entetaining from you window above the fray.
All Hotel staff are extremely service oriented and pleasant. This appears to be a constant in Ecuador not exclusive to this property. That being stated, is non the less appreciated and stands out as contributing to a very oleasant and relaxing experience here. Hihly recommend this Hotel

overpriced Barnard

I thought the room was overpriced by half. Service ok, but nothing special. Mini bar poorly staffed. Some street noise.
