"It was a slice of Heaven!"
We came off a wonderful boat trip through the Galapagos Islands, which had a very rigorous schedule starting at 7AM daily. I had seen this hotel on line and fell in love with it. We decided to tack on 2 days at the end of our trip to relax without a schedule. This was the best decision I ever made. We arrived to a fire going in the living room, fresh roses on the table, hot water bottles in our bed and fresh cookies on the night stand! In the morning the breakfast that was included, was served on our porch with fresh blackberry juice. The decor was incredible:l tasteful, warm, antiques and copper. The first night I sank into the huge copper tub. We had dinner both nights in their restaurant. I am a chef and I thought the food was amazing. We never left the property until it was almost time for our plane. The owner is an American with a lovely, bubbly personality. The staff was one of the best I have ever dealt with. They were professional, yet warm and friendly. Most of them spoke English, or tried.

"Amazing Hotel In Every Way"
To say "words escape me" would not be appropriate, since by education and profession, language has been my center. So.......Mansion del Angel, architecturally speaking, is a stunner. Renovations to this extraordinary mansion, when appropriate, have been respectful. The décor in the bedrooms and in the public rooms will invite observation and appreciation. The staff seems to function as a close and efficient unit. Gratuities, for example, are encouraged to be delivered to the front desk, so they can be generally shared. As for the restaurant, you're not likely to find anything like this, well, anywhere else. The complementary breakfast is excellent; and other meals are essentially individually prepared. There is a menu, but special culinary wishes and specific dining hours - these can be negotiated with the chef, whose skills cannot be honored enough. These names will be specifically mentioned (and no, I did not have to write them down to remember them): Jorge of management and a man of grace and distinction; and Monica, and Patricia and Patricio, and two Andreses and Dani. And one last thing: the services at the hotel spa are of high quality and originality.

"Beautiful hotel in a great location."
A very nicely restored old home in the heart Mariscal. A beautiful room with the turn down service that included a hot water bottle to take the chill out of the bed. The staff was very helpful and knew the areas local flavors and markets. They were, although, less familiar with the areas higher end resterurants, but went out of their way to get us to them. Highly recommend the hotel as it is in Mariscal as well as an easy taxi ride to the center of the Old Town.

"Excellent well-priced B & B close to Old Town"
We were warmly welcomed by Mario and Blanca, the owners, to "their house" which became "our house" for the 4 nights we stayed there. After a long day of travel, it was a delight to be made to feel so much at home. We took transportation organized by the Hotel from the airport. This took the stress out of finding a taxi to take us to the hotel which is small and not known to all taxi drivers. Since it was dinner time, Blanca took us across the street to a very nice restaurant, Theatrum. Breakfasts were a delight. Fresh fruit, juice, smoothies, eggs, pastries and fresh bread from a nearby bakery. It was served at a communal table with other guests, all of whom were very interesting We were only 5 minutes walk from the Plaza Grande (also called the Plaza de la Independencia), the center of Old Town. An ideal location at a very reasonable price compared with others in the area. The Hotel is a lovingly restored old house with as much of the original structure and decoration as was possible to save. It took 2 years to do this work and the results are fantastic; it has been open for 1 year. Our large room had been tastefully modernized with up to the minute shower, vanity and separate toilet. The remainder of the room was decorated with period furniture and there was a huge King size bed.

"Perfect stay"
Stayed for our honeymoon and we could not have been more impressed by the gracious and effortless service of the staff - nothing was too much trouble for the concierge team of Wagner, Alfonso and Edison. Stayed for our honeymoon and we could not have been more impressed by the gracious and effortless service of the staff - nothing was too much trouble for the concierge team of Wagner, Alfonso and Edison. Wagner especially surprised us with some honeymoon chocolates and wine which was unexpected. The rooms were lovely, the hotel beautiful and right in the heart of the historic centre of Quito but it was the fantastic service that has us trying to invent a reason to fly halfway around the world again to stay at Casa Gangotena.
