I arrived at night and left before the sun came up, so I missed the lovely views advertised. But the staff was excellent in that they brought us a portable breakfast before our early departure to the airport and were overall very accommodating. The room was the most upscale I stayed in during my trip to Ecuador, so it was nice to have reliable hot water, a heater, and even a hair drier and cable TV. Overall a nice stay & good night of sleep.

The personnel at La Colina is extremely friendly and helpful. They also speak english. The room is a one bedroom 2 bath apartment complete with a living/dining room. It also had a nice view of the city. The price we received through Expedia was very reasonable. We were able to walk to a nice grocery store (a SuperMaxi) about 2 and a half blocks away just across the street from a bus station. It would be my first choice if I were to go back to Quito.

When we first saw this hotel we thought we might have made a mistake. It's a little old and not what we were used to. However, the amazing attitude of the staff soon made up for any other issues. Breakfast was always good though limited in variety. The whole place was immaculately clean and always smelled good. There was always coffee, tea, and fresh fruit available in the dining room. There is no safe in the room but there are lock boxes in the lobby. The front door is always locked so everything is very secure. There is no climate control which means no heat in the morning. I didn't mind but some did. The lack of elevators did not affect us at all--not a problem. We would not have used them if they were there.
The beds are a bit hard. Very quiet neighborhood. We didn't hear any noise at night. The walls were thin and you could hear your neighbor but there was no noise when we wanted to sleep. Some rooms had refrigerators; others did not. Very comfortable place to stay. Easy walk to trole-bus, malls, parks, and even Plaza Foch. Would stay here again.

Very helpful and friendly staff. Since it is in the middle of the city it can be noisy.
Regarding payment: The Expedia Itinerary stated that the the Total is "collected by the hotel". This was incorrect. At check-in I had already asked if the hotel has received my payment. I was told nothing was received and I have to pay at check-out. I had enough time to research: hotel staff informed me correctly. I am writing this because few reviewers complained about this situation. It is not the fault of the hotel.

The staff was great and were glad to assit us with all our needs. We ask the staff to find someone that could tour with us and show us Quito. The person they found was outstanding and was able to show us far more than we expected. Breakfast was included in our stay and was always good, (hot/cold as appropriate), fresh and well stocked.

The hotel was well located in the heart of the Amazon avenue experience for eager tourists seeking to discover night life in Quito. At first it was disturbing to hear a loud disco next door, but the noise subsided around midnight. The rooms are well kept and clean. The staff is cordial and friendly. The security of the hotel seems good. Guests are treated in both a friendly and respectful manner, which is a good business model.
The only down to the experience is the slow internet connection and the need to relogin every time one needs the internet with a new password if the one first given expires. However, I was provided with a new password when I requested one.
I did most of my eating out, as the Malls and touristic places are a walking distance literally anywhere from the hotel, in this sense the location added to the experience.
