Impeccable!

Posted Jul 9, 2014
This hotel is AMAZING! The location is right in the middle of new town next to Plaza Foch, but that is not what makes this hotel exceptional. The moment I walked into the hotel, I was surrounded by the subtle yet pleasant scent in the lobby and the common area. There are many hotels would spend the effort on decoration, yet few would invest in the "invisible" scent of the hotel (sure, huge lobby halls would make it difficult to do so and that is the charm of a boutique hotel) . The decoration is so exquisite - not posh, but exquisite - and they paid attention to all the details. Did I mention the sheets? Perfectly ironed and Westin's Heavenly Bed cannot compare it. Our suite for 4 has a separate bedroom for parents, kitchen, and a courtyard. If you go to the rooftop, you can see Teleferico from there. The owner is such a French gentleman and comes in every morning. He must be a perfectionist since he pays attention to EVERY details to make sure that your stay is an enjoyable one. The first morning when he saw me taking a couple Ecuadorian biscuits from the breakfast buffet, he insisted to heat it up for us first. The second morning since we had to catch an early flight, he made the breakfast ready an hour earlier than the regular schedule. The breakfast was home style at its best and surprisingly included healthy additions such as wheat germ and flaxseeds. LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!

Beautiful hotel in the heart of Quito

Posted Jun 14, 2014
Pros: Service and decor
Location: The president's home is just two blocks away, though it wasn't recommended to travel outside of the hotel at night (typical of Quito)
Patio Andaluz is luxury at a reasonable price. I was a single traveler concerned about being alone in Quito, but the hotel had absolutely anything I could think of needing for one night. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was delicious authentic Ecuadorian cuisine, and the wait staff spoke impeccable English. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to any traveler.

Beautiful Hotel and friendly staff. This is a Colonial Home, 400 years old converted to a Hotel 10 years ago. Old Spanish elegance, inner middle patio, where the restaurant is, sells all or most of the art in display. It is truly a small, heaven w/i the walls of the Historical Center.

Beautiful courtyard, excellent service

Posted May 12, 2014
Pros: First class service, classic/tasteful decor, fresh flowers, location, price.
Cons: Controlling room temperature was difficult; there are no controls in the room so cooling relies on fan.
Location: Located in the heard of Old Town with several churches (and the Basilica) and museums of note to explore.
First class treatment--doorman always attentive as you come and go. Very quiet and well-appointed rooms. Beautiful dining room in the covered courtyard. Reasonable priced. Located only a couple of blocks from the center square of Old Town.

Wonderful staff

Posted May 6, 2014
This hotel is very pleasant, though hardly luxury -- it's n a 500-year-old mansion, so it's atmospheric (with two gorgeous interior courtyards) but not plush. What makes this place, though, is the staff, who are unrelentingly wonderful. I found Ecuadorians everywhere to be about the nicest people on the planet, and this is especially true of hotel staff, but the folks at Patio Andaluz couldn't do enough to be helpful and couldn't have been more pleasant. The food is also good -- not to be taken for granted in Ecuador -- and the location, a block-and-a-hal;f off the Plaza Grande, can't be beat.

Great location, staff, amenities; noisy

Posted Mar 31, 2014
Pros: Beautiful old building that's lovingly restored; amazing location
Cons: Noisy neighborhood; insulated windows might help
Location: Quito old town - UNESCO world heritage site and you're within walking distance of 90% of the "top ten" Quito sights
The only obstacle to 5 star overall is that the Quito old city can be noisy at night, even with earplugs. Obviously there's nothing the hotel can do about that (though installing insulated windows might help; that's what they do in Germany) and they have a flyer in guest rooms warning you about this. Our room faced the street; perhaps if you request a back room it would be quieter. Overall very nice, we'd stay there again (even though by Quito standards it's quite expensive).

A lovely hotel.

Pros: A charming historic building with modern amenities.
Location: Right in the centre of the Old Town, just two blocks from the central plaza
The staff are very friendly and helpful. An excellent location in the Old Town. A great restaurant with very good service. We stayed there on three separate occasions, and were upgraded to a suite on two occasions. However the basic rooms were just as nice and roomy as the suites. In fact the suites were on two levels and, given the altitude of Quito, we found it easier not to have to go up a flight of stairs in order to get to the bathroom.

Great location in historic center. Very handsome Spanish colonial interior organized around two interior courtyards. We had two different rooms, as we had two separate stays around our trip to Galapagos. The first was a duplex and quite spacious. The second was smaller, with just bed and desk (and less expensive), but it was still quite ample, especially with pleasant sitting area right outside room overlooking courtyard. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast (not included for us) was quite good and fueled us for the day. We also ate dinner there twice as a convenience. That was OK, but certainly not a destination. Be careful at night. Even though area is bustling with activity during the day, at night we were told not to wander too far on foot and to take cabs wherever we went. Fortunately, taxis are moderately priced.
