Nice place to be in the old city

Posted May 5, 2014
Pros: This is definitely not a disable friendly hotel - no elevator and if you arrive on Sunday they shut down all of the streets in the old town.
Cons: I stayed on business and while the hotel is nice - there are not a lot of business amenities. The wifi was good though and there are restaurants near
Location: Its in the heart of the old city but on the edge. Its about 8 or 9 blocks to the central square and La Ronda is very active with many clubs.
Very nice hotel within walking distance of all the attractions of the old city. Beautiful hotel with lots of ambiance. I had a room on the third floor facing the back and it was very quiet - although sometimes you could hear the next room's shower. Be prepare - if you arrive on Sunday they close down all of the streets in the old town so its a bit of a challenge to get to the hotel. Even when it is not Sunday - La Ronda street is closed and you will have to walk about a block on cobbled streets every time you leave the hotel which is at the bottom of a hill so to get to the main part of the city you have to walk up hill. Santo Domingo church is at the top of the hill. I felt safe but it is where many of Ecuador's hookers hang out. If you politely say no, they pretty much leave you alone.

Dear Mike, Thank you for you comment. I am glad you find it a bit challenging getting to the hotel as you know treasures are always hidden but as you state in your comment seems it was worth your stay for the other benefits the hotel offered. Regarding you comment on Sto. Domingo, we will pass it on to the authorities, so they take it in to consideration for a solution on this matter. Best regards, Hotel Manager

This hotel is charming and beautiful with very comfortable and roomy lodgings. The staff is absolutely wonderful! They were so helpful during our stay and made our trip more relaxing. We would definitely return to stay with them again because it is like returning to family.

Great Spanish colonial style hotel - a little gem

Great location and nice interior. Very nice staff, too. My room was a bit dark but very spacious and comfortable. Room maintenance leaves a but to be desired but no major problems.

Lovely hotel with very helpful and friendly staff. Rooms are large, clean, comfortable. Food also very tasty. In heart of historic Quito, and easy to catch a bus or taxi to other areas. We will back!

Noisy!

Posted Feb 13, 2014 on Hotels.com
Based on other reviews, we requested a quiet room off of the main street. Despite this, we were given the noisiest room near the front of the hotel, on the second floor, above the main party street. We were up until 2am every night with the party goers. The street is quiet during the week; hence, a room right on La Ronda street would be fine. Also beware - the price quoted on hotels.com does NOT include all service fees (10%) and taxes (12%).

Dear Kate, Thank you...thank you I will like to extend my deepest apologies for the night you could not sleep well, never the less, your observation is making add additional changes in the hotel to minimize the noise to a level that will not affect you or any other guest sleeping in a room to the street in the future. We are working!!! Sincerely, Hotel Manager

Pros: The location to enjoy the La Ronda area safely as a tourist. It was quiet while the street was energetic
Cons: The cost of breakfast at the hotel was very expensive for what was served
Location: The historic center of Quito is nearby and the La Ronda is right out the door of the hotel
We spent one night at this hotel. It was beautiful and a great choice for a tourist to Quito

Excellent choice in Quito

Posted Jan 20, 2014 on Hotels.com
Spent two nights here in January 2014 and loved it! The place has so much charm, it has been restored with great care and taste. Beds are really comfortable, good (free) wifi, OK bathrooms (shower could be better - not enough water pressure for my taste). Their restaurant serves great food, the staff is lovely (not to say AMAZING) and the location is excellent, especially if you prefer to be in the Centro Historico (old town). Ask for a room facing the inner courtyard for more peace and quiet. A little pricy at around US$150 a night, but a definite winner!

great little hotel with very comfortable rooms. it seemed very secure for an area where there are many reports of robberies (although i have to note at dinner one guest came in to say that he just had a knife pulled on him for his point and shoot). Overall we really liked this hotel.

Stay here, it is the perfect hotel!

After a stressful day of traveling, when I finally arrived at the hotel and walked into the lobby, I was greeted like a long lost relative. Immediately my bags were taken, I was ushered to a seat and offered a much needed glass of wine. They expressed their concern over my late arrival (they said they were beginning to worry about me) but most likely it was due to my hectic appearance. Either way, their concern was genuine and much appreciated. I stayed here for 3 nights and on the second day Maria, after learning I had not explored the local area very well, was kind enough to take time out of her day to show me around the local shops and introduce me to the proprietors up and down La Ronda. In the hotel I was introduced to all of the staff from the maid to the receptionist to the chef (everyone was was so attentive and personable). Maria also made sure anything I wanted or needed was taken care of. She went above and beyond and her attentiveness to me as well as the other guests was endearing. The hotel itself is conveniently located on a safe, historic, pedestrian only street in the heart of old town. There are plenty of shops and restaurants located near by (although I highly recommend the hotel restaurant as everything I ate was delicious). The hotel is charming and the rooms were comfortable, spacious and clean. The bed was huge and the shower was heavenly. I would definitely stay here again so I highly recommend anyone else visiting Quito to stay here.

Great location in historical center of Quito

Posted May 30, 2013 on Hotels.com
This hotel has a great location if you want to see the sights in the historical center of Quito. It is located on La Ronda and even though the street can be busy and noisy, especially over the weekend, inside the hotel was very quiet and peaceful. We had a junior suite since we traveled with our son and our room was very spacious and had 3 beds. The beds were a little too hard for me, but fairly comfortable. The bathroom was huge with 2 sinks and a great shower. We did not hear any street noise, since our room faced an interior courtyard. The service was great. Our room did not come with breakfast and we found the breakfast to be a little expensive, so we walked a few blocks to the Plaza Santa Domingo and had a great breakfast for just a few dollars. Overall, I would recommend this hotel. It is in a historic building, but has been very well card for. We stayed initially for 4 nights and returned for 1 night before we left for the US. They were kind enough to hold a large suitcase for my son, which was quite helpful.
