Typically when I think of University hotels, I think of clean, well run hotels that cater to visiting academics. Typically you expect a nice lounge area, perhaps a couple of meeting rooms and well appointed rooms with WiFi and desks. If this is your expectation as well, STAY AWAY, this hotel does not deliver on this expectation. The only relation this hotel has to the University is that it is the Days Inn closest to the location. The university is not easily accessed and this hotel is both in a questionable neighborhood, but also difficult to find (behind a gas station and a Motel 6). The parking lot desperately needs repaving and its location does not make you believe that either you or your goods will be completely secure. The hotel itself has become run down and is badly in need of repainting at the very least. The rooms are dark, the furniture chipped and our sink both linked but was also missing the handle. It was so bad that even though I had paid for the room, I immediately checked out and located a better, safer room in nearby Raleigh. On the plus side - the outdoor pool looked well maintained and inviting.

We stayed at the currently rated #1 hotel for Durham back in March and were completely unimpressed, especially since we paid almost $200 for the room for one night. When our travels brought us back to the Durham area, I found the days inn at a much more reasonable rate. I was skeptical, but I am so glad that I went with my instinct. The hotel is right off the freeway, and not too hard to find. The hotel is clean and the staff members were extremely friendly. There is a very nice huge pool. LOVELY!!!!!!!!!! The room was nice and clean and the free Wi-Fi had a strong signal and unlike most hotels, was quite reliable. Breakfast in the morning was great. Waffles, yogurt, a bread station, along with fresh fruit and many choices for drinks. I would definitely stay here again if we need to return to Durham. Stayed September 2013, traveled with family

Room was very dirty and smellyPosted Aug 27, 2013 on Hotels.com
The room had a very strong feet smell. The towel bars had very old dust that was sticky from age.

PLEASENT STAYPosted Aug 12, 2013 on Hotels.com
We enjoyed our stay. This was not our first visit to this hotel and I can truly say that each time we were satisfied with the staff as well as our room. I really cannot say anything negative. We were checked in promptly. The staff was very friendly and talkative. We enjoyed the pool as well. The housekeepers that we came in contact with were friendly and accomodating as well. I would say give this property a try. You will not be disappointed.
