“A Great Quiet hotel in North northwest Raleigh”

The desk manger set the tone with being efficient and friendly. The room, while basic motel fare, was clean and in proper order. The only very minor "problem" was the clock in the room was inoperable, it didn't work at all. And the pull lever to open and close the face bowl had the cap missing so it made it hard to open and close. But like I said, these were very, very minor. This is a good, basic, clean and QUIET motel, right on one of the major arteries of the city and surrounded by inexpensive places to shop and eat (Windy's, WalMart, etc.) There is a TERRIFIC Italian restaurant more or less one intersection north and across the street, called Assiago's ! If you are on a budget and need a safe clean and quiet place to be in northwest Raleigh, I recommend this place. As I have family in Raleigh, I do plan to use this place again !

“As Bette Davis said, "What a dump"”

Lal, the gentleman who checked us in, was incredibly nice. That was the end of our enjoyment. The strong scent of urine wafted up from the back parking lot and into our rooms. It may have been created by the guests who dragged furniture onto the outdoor walkway to drink, smoke and cackle late into the night. The a/c units were loudly clanky, there were unrepaired bare patches in the popcorn ceiling, the furniture was old and tattered, the bedding was dirty and there was pubic hair on the bathroom fixtures and dressing area carpet. The manager, who was at the desk during the day, was curt at best. This is a terrible hotel - I couldn't get away quickly enough.

Area recommendations

The airport area is nice. It's easy to get to different parts of the city. I loved downtown. It's quaint yet has many venues that attract a young business crowd.

Dining

Dinner at The Pit, in downtown Raleigh, was a real treat. The food was delicious and the staff was a lot of fun. I was told the ice cream at Fresh is out of this world. Unfortunately, it was damaged in the recent tornado, so I couldn't sample it, but I hope to try it the next time I'm in Raleigh. We were treated to lunch from Bullock's. I can only say, "wow!" Everything was incredible, from the fried chicken to the barbecue ... the sides and the desserts. Even the sweet tea was fantastic.

“Excellent visit”

The room was very clean and comfortable. The clerk at the desk was friendly and knowledgable about the area as well.

“Not Satisfied”

When I got to the room to put my food in the refrigerator it was unplugged so when I plugged it up it didn't come on until the following morning. I called the service desk & the staff told me she did not have anyone to come look at it that she could put me in a different room. Then the bath tub would not drain. The heater was making loud noises as if it was going to explode while we tried to sleep. When i tried to tell the man what all had happened he tried to brush me off. I will never stay at this Days Inn again I was not happy with the overall stay. Plus we had food because we had just came from lunch and our food went bad because the refrigerator never came on. The mall is 2 miles from this hotel.

“Not impressed”

Continental breakfast was pretty pitiful. No fruit at all. Bagels were from a bag that had been opened and then the bagels rewrapped indiviually in plastic wrap. A few mini muffuns that were not very fresh. Not what I expected.
