Enormous rooms, clean, and classy

It was perfect. Room was more than enough. The entire hotel was elegant and we'll maintained for a low price.

Jet engine in the room !

Pros: The food at the Varsity Lounge is decent and the staff there is efficient.
Cons: Air conditioner
Location: Location is great
The air conditioner in our room sounded like a jet engine every time it recycled. And, we could not regulate the fan speed to a lower level. The room was clean and was spacious enough. The staff was excellent....even getting us a refrigerator for meds. But the jet engine made sleeping a bear.

Public areas OK but guest rooms are rundown

Pros: Common areas are attractive but a little dark and not well lit
Cons: Refurbish the rooms. Even an inexpensive update would go a long way
The public areas of the hotel look good but could be improved with better lighting. I was very disappointed with the rooms. The rooms did not look like they have been renovated or maintained very well. Bathroom fixtures worn and brass plating worn off and dated. Wallpaper peeling throughout the room. Bedding was what I would have expected at a hotel 6. A shame because the brand name is a good one. Air conditioning noisy and not that effective. The only saving grace was that the stay was not expensive. I would rather pay 20-30 more a night and have them invest the money on refreshing the rooms.

Bed and room left something to be desired

I enjoyed my stay. The hotel itself is very nice - nice bar area, nice sitting area, nice pool. My bed was not exceptionally comfortable and the heater in my room sparked quite a few times.

perfect location for medical/hospital appointments

Pros: curb appeal is good.
Location: Close to hospitals and the VA center.
We were surprised to see that many guests were there for medical reasons. the pool was very tiny. Worst was that the location of the hotel was far from downtown/Duke U. The experience was sort of depressing being around very sick people while trying to take a family vacation.

Fantastic staff, skip the breakfast

Pros: The best thing at this hotel by far is the staff.
The staff at the Millennium is absolutely first rate. They are friendly, helpful and professional. There is little or nothing in walking distance, however the hotel has a shuttle service for $5.00 per day. Internet service is slow and spotty and costs $5.95 per day. During a rain storm I was unable to connect to the internet. While the restaurant does a decent job with lunch and dinner, I would suggest avoiding breakfast. One morning I tried the breakfast buffet only to discover every hot item was dry and over cooked. Another day I ordered from the menu and the breakfast was just as dreadful.

Pros: Nothing
Cons: Needs a complete overhaul
Location: Science Center, Lemur Center, Durham Bulls Ball Park
Laundry list of issues, to many to waste my time here. Looks like it was a nice hotel 30 years ago but disinterested staff has let the place go to hell. Creative angles used in hotel photos to make look much nicer than it is. I could go on and on about how disappointing this hotel is. Other than the hotel our trip to Durham was quite fun.
