The staff at the front desk and breakfast area were outstanding. Our room was clean each day. The quality of the food was excellent. I wiil definitely stay there the next time I visit the area.

The Mariott Residence Inn is just off 15-501, a major highway that connects Chapel Hill to Durham. Although it is not in the old section of town, where UNC is located, it is convenient in terms of accessibility from 15-501 and Interstate 85. This place is a great deal. The rooms are flawlessly designed; the bed is comfortable; and someone actually understands little details, like lighting, easy-to-use t.v. remote control, bathroom accessibility in the middle of the night, and the importance of working wireless access. The staff is terrific and completely professional. They make you feel at home even though they are servicing 100s of people a day. The breakfast is for real: you could take a picture of it and fob it off as a restaurant meal, that's how fresh everything is. Free drinks on Wednesday and Thursday nights in a nice lounge, with a pay bar too. There is also a 24/7 mini market with the basics, including microwave food, beer, wine, etc. A few small gripes: 1. Walls are paper-thin; you can hear the person next door showering. 2. The appliances are noisy in the middle of the night. There's no way to fix the heating/air unit hum, but you can turn down the refrigerator to eliminate the buzz. It's funny: this is a hotel chain that clearly has gone to great lengths to figure out what makes guests happy, and somehow Marriott, like just about everyone else, still does not understand the importance of noise reduction insultation, or just plain thicker walls.

Spent Memorial weekend in Chapel Hill. Hotel was great. plenty of room for three adults. Full breakfast in morning. LCD tvs in both living room and bedroom. Easy access to UNC campus only 2 mile down Franklin St.

Quiet, comfortable, convenient location. The breakfast buffet, which is included, is absolutely wonderful. Friendly, helpful staff. Shopping centers are nearby as well as a quiet walk/bike path along a creek.

This hotel is going to be very popular once the word spreads. My wife and I went for just one night to attend a seminar at UNC Chapel Hill. The hotel is brand new construction and appears to be designed from the ground up by people with decades of hospitality experience. From the stainless steel appliances in the mini-kitchen to the perfect placement of the rotating Plasma TV, every detail in the room was carefully laid out. The decor was modern, comfortable & neutral-really made you feel at home. The wireless internet worked flawlessly. Just turned on the laptop and it was on...nice. If I was a frequent business traveler, I would seek this kind of accomodation out - it would be worth the premium just to not have to eat out all the time. Staff and service was excellent. We checked in late and were in our room within 10 minutes. In the morning, we were greeted to a newspaper and automated checkout. Free breakfast buffet in the morning was excellent. Good variety of healthy stuff - yogurt, fruit, whole grain breads etc. in addition to the standard scrambled eggs, make-you-own waffles etc. The dining area had the feel more of a B&B than a hotel. Small tables and sitting areas cozied around a gas fireplace with a large screen Plasma overhead. Perfect for morning meetings complete with armchairs that had swing out trays so you could take advantage of the food. Nice touch. I'm glad I don't really travel for business but if I did, this would be a top choice.
