Good hotel in Rapid City

Posted Jul 23, 2015
The hotel is about 30 minutes from Mt Rushmore. The hotel was nice. The walls were pretty thin, we could hear a lot of noise from other rooms. Otherwise the rooms were nice.

Pros: comfy beds, clean room, good location, good breakfast
Cons: expedia's communication with the hotel
When we arrived the hotel was booked but had no record of our reservation even thought I had received two email confirmations with a confirmation number. It took the manager 45 minutes to get us signed in. The water park was nice and the restaurant was convenient. The beds were very comfortable. But we had to pay for the water park passes on top of the expensive hotel room. The passes should be included in the room rate. We will not stay at this hotel again.

Water Park $$$$

Posted Jul 13, 2015
Just a warning, this hotel shares the same water park with La Quinta Inn. However, where the La Quinta says clearly that the watermark costs extra, the Fairfield Inn does not. The water park costs $16.99 per person per day. That was additional $64 for my family on top of a room that was almost $100 more per night than another hotel down the road that included a free water park. Definitely not pleased with the lack of transparency with this hotel.

Not The Greatest

Posted Jul 6, 2015
Pros: The location was decent but not lots of stuff in the immediate area.
Cons: See above. Just about everything.
Location: Not a lot to walk to. Need to drive a good distance to get to anything.
The hotel cleanliness left something to be desired. While our rooms were "cleaned" every day, the trash was never emptied, the in-room coffee was never refilled and the towels were only replaced on occasion. Secondly, the hotel advertises a pool as one of the amenities. There is an awesome water park attached to the hotel that's tons of fun but it's also $16/person/day. There is no pool included with your stay. I think that whole issue completely turned us off from ever staying there again or recommending it. Seems very deceptive and all of the customers we heard at the front desk were complaining of the same thing. The free breakfast was ok, not the best we've ever has by far. Additionally it was very noisy.

Good hotel if you have kids. Connected to a water park! The hotel needs to take better care of cleaning up the garbage cans...they were always overflowing. Also needs better management of the breakfast food...kept running out of items.

Great Family Hotel

Posted Jun 30, 2015
We liked the access to the water park and free breakfast. Hotel was clean, beds were comfy and room was spacious for a family of four. Hotel staff seemed to genuinely care that we enjoyed our stay and found the activities we wanted to do. We would stay again.

Loud, not worth the money

Posted Jun 28, 2015
This was the priciest hotel we stayed in during a roadtrip across the northern US... and it was not even close to the best one. If you're not going to the water park, don't stay here. It was really loud (noises woke us up in the middle of the night, seemingly from the neighbor's plumbing, and kids yelled while running down the halls... terrible insulation). The "restaurant" was overpriced, had a limited and gross menu (ordered a pizza as it seemed safest, and it looked like a mini micro-wave pizza when it arrived), and you place your order at the counter like it's a Dairy Queen. I would only go back if I was wanting to take my kids to a water park, although even then I'd rather go on Vacation to SoCal and hit some real water parks, not this cheesy indoor park with four slides.

Good location for Mount Rushmore

Posted Jun 19, 2015
Location: Mount Rushmore Black Hills Badlands National Park
The hotel was very nice. We didn't realize that the water park was attached to the hotel so we were a little worried about the noise. But, we asked the front desk if we could have a room the farthest away from the park and she accommodated us without any problems. Breakfast was very good and fresh. Walls are a little thin, so you can hear the neighbors easily but other than that, it was a nice place to stay.

It works

Posted Jun 17, 2015
Pros: I had a mistake on my bill and was ready for a fight. However, they fixed it without any hassle
Cons: Rooms were pretty tight.
Location: It wasn't really "in" Rapid City, however it was close to all the major roads to get to the attractions. About 30 to 40 minutes from Rushmore
We stayed at this hotel for the water park because we have kids. It was nice to have the park, but not entirely sure it was worth it? The park costs 15$ a person, so if you have an hour or two to kill in the evenings, not necessarily worth it. We did have rain one day, so we stayed at the water park most of the day. It would have been nice to have a normal pool to just hang out at. Overall it was a pleasant stay.

Nice hotel with water park

Posted Jun 4, 2015
Everything was wonderful, except for check in, which was very slow. Room was awesome, staff were nice and breakfast was amazing!
