Not what I expectedPosted Jan 5, 2015
Pros: The only good thing about the location is it IS right on the beach. If you don't mind staying in a hovel it's fine.
I checked into another accommodation after 1 night at the Puaikura. My accommodation wasn't as advertised by Expedia or the hotel's website, but instead it was property 20 minutes (walking) down the road from the main property. It was billed as a beachside studio unit. The place was hard to find with no signage or markings whatsoever, and it was in a residential area. I didn't feel it was the safest location for a woman travelling alone. The room itself was very run-down, decorated with what looked like op shop furnishings, stains on bedding, bathroom lights were not working the night I arrived at 2am. Television not working. Cockroaches (a huge one on the wall right by the bed), spiders, spiderwebs, mosquitoes, geckos - you name it - were in the room as well. If you want a lovely hotel in a great location, check out The Rarotongan.

Peace & QuietPosted Dec 4, 2014
Pros: A few steps from the room to the pool, and a lovely beach just across the road.
Cons: Commuinication between staff and other agencies
Location: White Beach (Reef Shoes are a good idea). Next door is a local shop that has a very limited selection of food items, and a few DVD’s, and internet.
Upon arrival we were greeted in our room by several lovely displays of flowers, which was very nice. Our room was nice and clean and only a few steps away from the pool, and the beach was across the road. The staff were very friendly and helpful, we had our towels changed several times during our stay. We noticed in the portfolio on the room table that the lodge had recently won a local award. With bus stops right outside the lodge it makes getting about very easy. The property was very quiet during stay with people only staying a few nights. Most of the time we had the pool and loungers to ourselves. They do have Wi-Fi hotspots, but we never used. The only little flaw was bad communications between the lodge and our transfer back to the airport.

Simple relaxing holidayPosted Nov 21, 2014
Pros: The pool and the BBQ that was available to all at any time.
Cons: The tiling in the bathrooms was a bit tired. Needed places inside/under cover to hang towels, wet swimming costumes.
Location: Rarotonga is so small that it is easy to go anywhere safely. We loved the huge range of cafe's and restaurants.
A quiet holiday apart from the hens and roosters that frequent most of Rarotonga. Simple accommodation that was clean, with friendly staff, that did not cost the earth. Close to the beach, but then the whole island is close to the beach.

Wonderful place to stay.Posted Nov 15, 2014
Pros: The wonderful and helpful staff.
Cons: Room service could be improved, sometimes the rubbish wasn't emptied every day or towels replaced.
Location: Its on the quiet side of the island so its very peaceful.
This is a great place to stay, the staff are very helpful and its very peaceful. Excellent pool and bus at the door. There are not really many food options nearby but if you rent a car or scooter, you can get there easily. Beach right across the road! If possible ask for a Superior Studio behind the pool! Oh and friendly cat called Rio!

Reasonable hotel - well placed. Just very noisy.Posted Nov 14, 2014
Hotel was fine. Sliding roller door didn't roll well - so we fixed it. Back door appeared to be just holding on. A little confused whether our room was suppose to be serviced and cleaned every day or not. But it was fine. Animals from surrounding properties made sleeping at nights hard. Pool was lovely. But did not always have hot water.

Studio unit right on the beachPosted Oct 13, 2014
Pros: Next to beach. Clean
Cons: Re vamp of air-con
Location: Worth hiring a car as no close to many attractions
We stayed at the studio unit of the Puaikura Reef lodge? This was a little away from the main hotel and attached to a larger 4 bed bungalow. It was made up of a large single room and bathroom, fully self catering and opened on to a deck, with a BBQ, which lead right on the beach. It was great for the three of us, not luxurious but we couldn't have got better for the price and it had all that was needed. It was quiet as there was no one next door. Snorkeling wasn't great right there but beach beautiful and fresh coconuts from the trees were a treat. Great views of the sunset from this side of the island and whales passing through.

Our Raro HolidayPosted Aug 14, 2014 on Hotels.com
Location was great for us.The advertised picture of the unit did not match the the room however it was o k for us. The staff were very good and help full. .Snorkling was good, just across the road. Bike hire next door and fuel for car.The dripping shower was a pain and staff neglected to remedy it when asked to do so 3 times, however bath mat stopped the sound. Over all we would recommend this place as it was very good value for money and clean.
