A satisfactory hotel for a one-night stay.Posted Nov 25, 2013
Cons: The motel is old and it needs to be updated.
Location: Near several national park sites in northeast New Mexico.
Based on the reviews we read, rooms at this hotel were very different from one another. Others complained about a tiny bath. Ours was spacious. Our room did not have covered parking. Some rooms did. Others complained about the heaters. Each room had an old heater that did not work but each room also had a new heater that did work. This was a one-night stop for us between national parks. I might not recommend the room for an extended stay, but it was fine for one night.

good locationPosted Sep 7, 2013 on Hotels.com
Overall my stay was good, it seemed a little overpriced for the overall condition (older motel) but it was clean and had a partial garage. There was no breakfast but it was conveniently located to several restaurants and had brochures on sites of interest nearby.

It's OK to sleep there if you're tired. But if you want enjoy your stay, you need spend more money.

Pros: Checking out
A run down motel that was poorly furnished, no house keeping, no shampoo or SOAP. Plus the rates were more expensive than newer, more modern motels in the same town. It was quiet though, with only two rooms occupied.

Only problem is this place is old, but it is nicely maintained. There were no problems.

Colt Motel - Less Money, Equal QualityPosted Jul 11, 2011 on Hotels.com
Raton Motels seem to think they are in a tourist destination. They aren't. Most of them want too much money for the value and I've stayed at several. I now have a place I will repeat at. It's old, but reasonably maintained. They seem to be trying to keep it in very good shape. Plus covered parking, car-port adjacent to most rooms - 12 ft wide. The owner/manager/clerk was very pleasant and helpful and did everything he could to meet our needs. We mentioned one problem and he was very apologetic and ready to resolve it without question. It's not far off the freeway and plenty of dining choices nearby. Now, if only they could add a pool and hot tub. :-)

Don't stay here. Motel 6 is more than $10 cheaper and more than 10 times cleaner.

"Court" provides everything except timely customer service.Posted Sep 1, 2010
For a "court" of this age, the rooms were incredibly clean and fresh. The drive-in car-port protected my new car perfectly. The bathroom was small, shower only, and very clean. both bedrooms had t.v.'s, doors to the bathroom; privacy.

Motel of 1940's vintagePosted Aug 18, 2010
This wasn't exactly the highlight of our vacation. The motel was old, and apparently the owners had fallen on either hard times or "get the money and run." The clerk had a thick accent, and communications was difficult. Hotels across the street were much better maintained and were advertising much cheaper rates. Not recommended.
