Wonderful surprise

The Gaia Hotel is hard by I-5 in Anderson, CA. Not the most inspiring location, but the hotel is a wonderful place. The buildings cluster around an attractive, large courtyard that is beautifully landscaped. Our room was large and comfortable, with just a few points off for having a view of the parking lot rather than something more interesting. And since the lot was not busy and there were trees bordering, it was a very minor "minus". Do not miss the food in the Woodside Grill and Lounge. Breakfast omelet of veggies and goat cheese was perfect size, made to order and served with just-right fresh hash browns, and the dinner appetizer of Tempura Avocado is not to be believed. We thoroughly enjoyed every meal we ate here. The food was fresh and the chef's talents were exhibited by accentuating the food with interesting flavors and textures, and providing restrained but filling portions. Unique and engaging, without being frou-frou or pretentious. The only improvement I could see would be to offer fresh jams and marmalade with breakfast.

Very comfortable beds

The room was nice and comfortable but, there was mold or mildew on the shower curtain (it was changed immediately), they were stingy with the in-room coffee and coffee supplies and a meal that I didn't eat was charged to my room (this was corrected). The staff were pleasant and the beds were wonderful!

We enjoyed the large and comfortable room and the lovely grounds near the river. It was nice,too, to have a restaurant on the grounds so we didn't have to get in the car again after a long day on the road.

Comfy beds and great location

This hotel is very nice, the rooms are very clean and the beds are nice and comfy. The staff is very professional and nice. Had a very good night rest, very satisfied with the hotel. Also great location, next to the highway, but you don't hear any traffic noise, very quiet and peaceful setting! Would definitely stay there again if back in the neighborhood! Loved it! Highly recommend!

Comfortable clean accommodation

I needed a room for just one night after a long flight. The staff were great but their beds are the best. Very cosy. Wish I could have staying longer

Not a 3.5* hotel

The room was not clean. There were pieces of hair everywhere. The carpet had multiple patches of stain. The hotel room absolutely lacked 3.5* ambience. It should be considered as 2.5*. When I checked in, the door lock didn't work. It was too late at night to deal with it.

The bed was comfy, the restaurant on the property had friendly servers and delicious food. The Bloody Mary had perhaps too much horseradish but that's our only real complaint. The spa on property was a treat in which I took advantage of. The massage left me nice and relaxed for the next leg of our trip. Surroundings are not amazing but the short drive to Lassen is why we chose this location. Not to spend time in Anderson. Having some laundry facilities on site would be a nice benefit. The local laundromat in town was a little scary.
