GREAT LOCATION, NICE PEOPLE. PET FRIENDLYPosted Sep 16, 2014
Pros: LOCATION, PRICE, PET FRIENDLY, NICE PEOPLE, STARBUCKS NEXT DOOR
Cons: COULD HAVE BEEN CLEANER
Location: GOOD PARKING, AND CLOSE TO THE THINGS WE WANTED TO DO.
WE ONLY STAYED ONE NIGHT WHILE WE VISITED THE REDWOODS. GOOD LOCATION AND PET FRIENDLY...VERY IMPORTANT TO US.

Ok for one nighterPosted Sep 12, 2014
In general, the stay was ok. It was quiet, bed is comfortable. The maintenance of the room could be better, lots of things in bathroom looked worn down. Carpet requires some deep cleaning.

Staff was very helpfulPosted Sep 11, 2014
Pros: Staff and excellent wifi
They were very helpful in helping my have a room where my motorcycle was secure. They were very willing to move me from a 2nd floor room to a 1st floor room where I could park my bike outside my window.

Location: Jedediah Smith State park with redwood trees.
It was just okay. I would look for something a little nicer next time I am in town.

Seedy with a poor breakfastPosted Aug 11, 2014
Pros: Location met my needs
Cons: Rear down and rebuild, the motel is aged and shows all the bad signs of age.
Location: The Redwoods!
Cheap enough that one should probably not complain, but it is not a very good motel. Noisy, awful breakfast - did not eat there rather went to Starbucks next door. Room was comfortable enough but had inadequate electrical outlets for iPhone charging, etc. nonsmoking rooms but people stood in the breezeways smoking thus the room reeked of smoke. Would opt for some other place the next time I am in Crescent City .

Acceptable StayPosted Jul 28, 2014
Pros: The beds were comfortable and the room was spacious.
Cons: The bathrooms could be updated.
Location: Walmart is up the street. There are a variety of food markets, restaurants, and shops with in a few minutes walk of the motel.
Crescent City is not full of lodging at a reasonable rate so I decided to stay at America's Best Value for two nights because of the price. The facility is an older motel where the rooms have been refurbished and are clean, but you can tell the wear on the building. The bathrooms are clean, spacious, but old. The staff is very polite, helpful, and friendly. If you need an iron/board request them at the front office. My room had a hair dryer, but if you need one the front office will lend you one. The included breakfast consisted of hard boiled eggs, cereals, breads, yogurt, and a variety of breakfast beverages. The motel itself is in close proximity to restaurants, and stores. Walmart is up the street. There is a Mexican restaurant next door to the motel. I would recommend you eat there. Overall, for a short stay I would recommend this motel, and I would stay there again.

Not comfortable her - left right away!Posted Jul 17, 2014
Cons: Update the rooms, thorough cleaning.
Room furnishings quite old, smelly. Room dark, not kept up well. Was a homeless guy sitting right under our back window (beside the garbage) going through his bottles/hanging out for 1.5 hrs or so. We stayed 2.5 hrs - enough to shower and find another hotel for the night.

Not motel, a little close to highwayPosted Jul 16, 2014
Pros: Comfy bed, nicely remodeled bathroom with modern decor, and they only charged $10 extra for our dog.
Cons: Cleaning staff should check the top closet shelves. A ceiling fan would be good for stuffy nights since opening windows brings hwy noise and dust in.
Location: Very close to Arcata Bay which is picture worthy. Redwood National Forest is just a few miles away. Great coffee shop right across the street!
The motel has obviously had lots of work done; fresh crisp paint everywhere. They are working on upgrading the spa, so I bet it will be nice when done. Thee was a nicely remodeled bathroom with tile and modern decor. The one drawback was the location. The motel is in a U shape, open to Hwy 101, which made for a noisy night since we were in the room closest to the highway. The staff were professional and helpful. It's a beautiful town and we didn't mind a little less perfection in the stay since we were just overnight guests with a pet, needing a reasonably priced room on the way to the Redwood National Forest.
