Not what I expected

Posted Jun 29, 2015
Pros: the location. It was close to the beach and shopping etc.
Cons: Remodel the whole hotel, each and every room.
When we first walked in to the room it smelled real bad like a litter box or something worse than that. It was very difficult to sleep because the smell was that bad. We bought Glad thinking that would help but it didn't. The bathroom was so small that when you sat on the toilet your knees almost hit the wall in front of you. You had to side saddle the toilet. The whole room was out dated including the sink and bath tub/shower. There was no room at the sink to put your tooth brush, makeup etc. It was not a pleasant experience considering what we paid for the room. Never again at this hotel.

Great time on the beach, relaxing, but spartan

Posted May 22, 2015
Pros: The room was clean and totally convenient to the beach and the Dewey Beach "strip" for restaurants.
Cons: The pillows aren't great, I'd recommend bringing your own. Could use a small table in the room. Also, for security, a chain lock on door.
Location: Beach. Rehoboth boardway. Lewe's ferry to Cape May. Just sitting on the Dewey beach with a book is my idea of a great vacation.
I personally loved my stay here. Great location, great value. Location is the best of what Sea Esta I has going for it. And allowing dogs. You literally walk out of your room and 30 or so yards to the beautiful Dewey/Rehoboth beach. The Dewey beach is quieter than Rehoboth boardwalk, but you can stroll up the beach a bit (less than a mile, I think) and be right in the middle of the boardwalk arcades and french fry stands. I had the best time just hanging out in a beach chair for hours reading a book with a bottle of sangria, knowing I could just stumble back to my room when ready and not drive. It was heaven. Nothing fancy, room was worn, but it was clean, convenient and hassle-free. Plenty of ice while I was there. Families be aware there is very little space to spread out - no table to put things on, etc., except about one square foot on tv table. It worked for me, but might be tight for a family. I'll definitely be back, but not sure I'd recommend it to a friend - would depend on the friend and how spoiled they are.

You get what you pay for!

OK, it is close to the beach, and it is close to nightlife and restaurants. The rate was low, compared to many in the area, and they do not mind pets. Those are the good points. On the flip side, the hotel was built when JFK was in the White House and nothing has been done since, so the space is small, the bathroom is antique (and I am being very PC here) no phones, no internet, place smelled mildew. I would have gladly paid another $25 a night if I had gotten a better place! Oh well, live and learn!

We'd go back.

Pros: Very close to the beach, with very close parking.
Cons: Wifi is terrible.
Quiet, unassuming, retro, and very close to the beach. Met our needs just fine.

Location awesome; accommodations lousy

Posted Aug 21, 2013
Pros: Location, location, location. And the woman who works the front desk in the evenings was very pleasant and helpful.
Cons: Dresser needs to be tossed or replaced; the bathroom ceiling needs dire repair and the smell... oh, the smell.
Let me start off by saying that the location of the hotel is awesome. It is 100 yards to a clean, beautiful beach and that makes up for a lot of what the hotel is lacking, but not enough. Yes, the rooms and hotel are older and run-down, the furniture is falling apart and I have no idea about what was happening to the ceiling in the bathroom, but the real problem to me was the smell. It was some weird, unpleasant combo of musty carpet, cleaning chemicals and maple syrup. I just couldn't get used to it. I ended up going to Safeway and buying several air fresheners but they didn't help. Normally, I try not to spend too much time in my hotel room, anyway, but I have little kids who need downtime from the beach so I was forced to endure the smell for several hours a day. I was never so happy to check out of a hotel than I was after two nights in that room. Oh, and housekeeping completely skipped our room so I had to depend on the wonderful, kind woman who works evenings at the front desk to supply me with fresh towels and extra blankets. If the Sea Esta I made a few renovations (and ripped up that stinky carpet), I would gladly pay double to stay there because the location is so great, but as it stands, I would not return.

Close to beach and accommodating

Posted Aug 15, 2013
Pros: On the beach
Cons: Everything
We drove to the beach for same day lodging and literally the only place available was this hotel. For someone who stays in four seasons and Wyndham, this is not even in the same category. But again with last minute lodging the establishment was very accommodating. It was clean but old as dirt. Yet, I did not hear a sound from my neighbors. So my kids had the opportunity to experience both sides of life but I thank the receptionist who fit us in and then allowed a change of heart and lodging.

Best deal

One block from the beach. Has it's own personality. Not fancy, but not bad in any way. I loved it.

A disgusting motel!

Posted Sep 24, 2012
Pros: None
Cons: The bathroom was filthy and moldy
Location: A bit noisy but not unacceptable.
The room was shabby. When we opened the shower curtain the next morning, the shower and the soap dish were dirty, the metal in the tub/shower was rusted, and there was a great deal of black mold on the soap dish and in the tub. It didn't look like it had been cleaned for a very long time. It was disgusting and, probably a health menace. I don't know why they are allowed to stay in business.
