"Jacky Michel's Hôtel d'Angleterre: worth a detour"
We stayed for the fourth time this week at the Hôtel d'Angleterre. Since our first stay it's been renovated and updated. The hotel was good value (35 € cheaper via Expedia than directly with the hotel this time). But we go there for the restaurant: we always enjoy a memorable meal.
Last time we were there with our daughter and her baby and the hotel staff could not have been more helpful.
There is convenient protected parking.
I chose this B&B because it was small and quaint . It certainly lived up to my expectations. Marie and Caroline were excellent hosts ,producing a well presented breakfast. The building has been cleverly restored and the bedrooms have been beautifully furnished. Outside of the bedroom is a small terrace where you can sit and have a glass of wine. Chalons en Champagne is worth a visit and we were disappointed that the small boat trips around the ramparts was only open at weekends. There are one or 2 gardens and river walks well worth doing. Be aware that we found it hard to find restaurants open on weekday evenings.
This B&B has some steep stairs so not for elderly people

"Nice hotel with good food and very helpful staff."
We were travelling with our dog for the first time and were able to make use of the hotel's freezer to hold some of her food. Unfortunately, we forgot this when we left, but were able to collect it on our return a week later, with no problem! The staff were most helpful and we shall certainly return again, if stopping in that area.

"A dining experience to remember, wonderful dinner."
We had a one night stop returning over from Italy, this is a wonderful Chateau, very relaxed, charming staff, and the whole dining experience was delightful. The setting for the Chateau was enchanting and we have wonderful photos to remember it by. We plan to come back with family in order to share the experience with them.

From the moment you arrive the service is outstanding. The staff were welcoming, booked tables and taxi for dinner. We were escorted to an outstanding room, with everything you need, safe, hair dryer, TV, king size bed and a single, huge bathroom. The room was stylish and comfortable they had thought of everything.
Breakfast the next day was in a beautiful room and plentiful also very nice.
The grounds, terrace, pool was lovely. We had a drink in the lounge it was very nice.
The only downside is the small car park and they should expand to have a restaurant as I'm sure it would be superb.

An excellent choice for travelers crossing France.. Easy to find, staff multilingual, dining facilities in the hotel excellent and a superb menu - reasonably priced, both the room and the meals.
Only downside, rooms small and on the 2nd floor, requiring one to walk up two flights of stairs. Happy to recommend it and would be pleased to stay there again.
