We arrived late at night and were greeted by friendly reception who took the time to help us plan our next day's excursions. A charming and extremely reasonably priced bar is part of the hotel and serves tasty Luxembourg beer. After visiting larger European cities, our stay at this hotel located in a village of 100 people was refreshing. In the bar we had the opportunity to meet a local Elvis Presley fan who called himself the "Luxembourg cowboy" and joined our lively discussion with the gatekeeper/barman and another friendly guest. After a good night's sleep in a large, clean, and quiet triple room, we enjoyed the extraordinary free breakfast and after very brief drives visited two chateaus. We would love a chance to return to Luxembourg to experience a longer stay at Hotel Dimmer.

Pros: The food
Stayed here for 1 night. Lovely location next to the river. Beautiful area. Staff were very helpful. We ate at the hotel and the food was very good. A pleasant stay.

A Bit DisappointedPosted Jul 8, 2013
Pros: Clean rooms, free internet
Cons: Restaurant food and service
Location: Only about 45 minutes from Bastogne where you can get a tour guide to take you around all of the Battle of the Bugle sites and the memorial.
During this last trip we have stayed in several small town inns to take in the culture and experience. I was excited about the Hotel Dimmer because it has received such excellent reviews. In reality, I was fairly disappointed. The owner was very nice and helpful upon arrival and even changed our room to be more accommodating for 3 people. The room was clean but small. The nights were a bit warm and no fan to keep cool. I was mostly disappointed with the restaurant. The ambiance was exceptional but the service was lousy and it would often take 10-15 minutes to get a refill or another drink. The food was very bland and not at all what I expected based on the menu. It's a fine place to stay over night as a quick stopover but I would not recommend the hotel for long stays. I recommend eating somewhere else... there was a very nice pizzeria in Dillengen only about 5 minutes away (all three of us enjoyed our meals there.)

Arrived after 9:00pm but staff offer to provide a cold meal for us. Upon arrival we found the restaurant still open and enjoyed a hot meal. Our sat-nav had broken down and the staff assisted us in finding the location of the hotel in the dark, as our map book was not very detailed. All in all a very pleasant stay in comfortable surroundings.

Three guys on three motorbikes. A good hotel, clean, friendly and welcoming, service was good, no issues with the language, a little signing and waving of hands etc., and we managed to get booked in and a beer in our hand, quite important after several hundreds of miles on the bikes. Parking was secure, hassle free, location pretty central for our needs, a short walk to restaurants, bars. We only used it for a place to sleep, book in, bags in room, freshen up and out to the local area. Pretty, peaceful and right on the border, good for a base to travel out from. Food was good, no complaints. Straight forward, simple, hassle free and enjoyable.
