Good place with fun events

Posted Jul 21, 2014
Pros: Friendly staff, fun events
Cons: AC units in older rooms do not work too well.
We were there for the BBQ competition and the staff there was super friendly. They made it a fun event and it was great that they did so much for VIP members, who were all treated to some great food and drinks.

Comfort & Relaxing

Posted Jul 21, 2014
Very comfortable room & helpful staff. The bed was soft & after a LONG day driving it was a great place to relax. My only complaint was with the food when we went to eat at the casino cafe, very unorganized & not helpful. They screwed up our order & then when we ordered an apple juice for our child they charged us but didn't give it to us. When we went back they told us they didn't know how to use the machine that dispensed the apple juice.

Nice place for the kids.

The main reason we stayed at Boomtown is the Fun Center. We have kids and it was the most inviting hotel for them. Without them I am not sure we would have stayed there. The rooms are small and run down. They smelled bad and were falling apart.

Disappointed

Posted Jun 30, 2014
Pros: The Bistro's food was quite good and the bar cocktails very reasonably priced. Convenient location to concert venue (in the hotel).
Location: This is not close to town (Reno) and pretty much out there by itself.
We stayed in the SOUTH tower (I understand the NORTH tower is newer and perhaps better). The first room they put is in was hot & smelled like the sewer so we asked to be moved. We were moved up a floor to a cool, non-smelly room. The more I looked around, the more dirt I found. I must say the bed was clean & comfortable and the room was pretty quiet but this wing of the hotel is in desperate need of upgrading (or a good cleaning).

Horrible smell of smoke and very noisy. Not a place to stop with your family.

Hotel was OK.

Posted Jun 28, 2014
Pros: It was convenient to the things we wanted to do while in Reno.
Cons: Above
Location: Good location
The hotel & casino were OK. The bed was really uncomfortable, lumpy and the pillows were flat. The shower did not spray well, it had one side with water & one side without water. In addition, while the air conditioner was on, it suck in strong odors from the restaurant kitchen, which must have benn directly below the room. Not that their cooking smelled bad, it just seemed to fill the room.

Boomtown Hotel

Posted Jun 23, 2014
I booked 2 rooms through this site. Both with 2 Queen beds. When I arrived for check in the hotel only had one room available for me. I don't know what happened as I had already paid for 2. They upgraded one room to a suite for the inconvenience but it only had one bed. They had to bring a fold-up bed and it was so uncomfortable and no sheet or pillow, just a blanket for my 15 year old son. He was not pleased. The room was very outdated and it had an awful fishy smell that we just couldn't get over. It was really bad. But it also smelled like that in the second room we booked five doors down. It sounded like water was running in the next room all night but there was no room on that side of us, just stairs. I hope they don't have a leaky pipe somewhere. The linen closet was across the hall and the maids were laughing and talking very early there and woke us up. Also, no pool access. The kids were disappointed. The arcade area is also very outdated and they have switched to electronic cards instead of tokens and tickets. We got ripped off as the tickets didn't load and the young lady asked how many did I think we have. I said about 70 and she asked me if I would accept 50. What? I wasn't trying to lie and say I had hundreds of tickets and she acted as if I was lying about 70. Why would I do that? I won't be staying here again. The only thing that made it worth it was Peet's coffee. The restaurants sucked too. You really get what you pay for.

Dirty room

Posted Jun 23, 2014
We stayed for two nights at Boomtown. Upon walking into the room we noticed right away that the floor in the room has not been vacuumed and the bathroom floor has not been cleaned. The carpet was covered from construction dust and the bathroom floor was covered with what looks like concrete that was pushed to the corners on the outside of the tub. Coffee machine was stored on shelf on top of toilet. Personally I wouldn't drink coffee from such machine. The free internet was extremely slow and did not work most of the time. The TV was a 27" tube TV from the 80's. The bed however was comfortable and we did get clean towels.

Pros: Nothing. The casino and cafe are okay.
Cons: Better service and room renovation.
Location: Hotel is approximately 8 miles from Reno. We were there for a golf tournament. Winter there is skiing. The area is mountains and beautiful.
We checked in at 4:00. Our room was not ready until 6:00. Stayed 2 nights. Room was not cleaned until 6pm on 2nd night. Wanted a shower before we left and there was no hot water. Called front desk and was told it was being taken care of. Room was very outdated and old. Bathroom door paint was peeling. Fixtures are old. No kleenex in bathroom. It needs renovation.

No hot water 2nd morning. Beds made with blanket next , then sheet on top of that with spread on top. Not sanitary.
