Great luxury after a week in the mountains
Posted Jan 18, 2013
Pros: Friendly staff, lovely room.
Cons: Although it felt luxurious, they were a bit stingy with the towels.
Location: We ate and slept, so we don't know - it's the closest large resort to the airport, and they have a convenient shuttle.
The hotel/casino is close to the airport, which is the primary reason we picked it. However, we had spent a lovely but exhausting week in a housekeeping cabin in the Sierra Nevada mountains, and the luxury of the Grand Sierra was so welcome. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful, and the hotel seemed surprisingly family friendly - all sorts of activities for non-gamblers. I will definitely return, even though I don't drink or gamble. Also, the food at the buffet was surprisingly good and the service was great in spite of the fact that they were having a special for Father's Day.

Nice hotel, with the budget in mind.

Pros: Close to the access route going in any direction.
Cons: PARKING!
Location: See above.
When we initially checked in, we were told it was a no smoking floor. Once we were on the floor, walking from elevator to room, all we could smell was cigarette smoke. Advised the front desk, and they said security would deal with it. We didn't notice smoke any other time were walked to the elevator or back. Very nice room, generally clean. Used toilet paper on floor, behind toilet, YUK!

Special request

Pros: All staff are so pleasant. The rooms are clean and spacious. Truly comfort at it's best.
Location: Easy access to the fwy's, can get anywhere with little effort in finding locations.
I requested a room on the ground floor. Technically a down grade. I preferred for easy access. They were so accommodative. I really enjoyed my stay.

Nice hotel close to the Reno airport
Posted Jan 14, 2013
Pros: The bed and how quiet the hotel was.
Cons: We had a 5:45 a.m. flight and the shuttle did not run early enough to get us there and checked in before our flight. We had to take a taxi.
Location: The airport was very close and was convenient to getting us to and from our flights.
Our hotel experience at the Grand Sierra has always been excellent. The beds are very comfortable and the hotel is quiet. We had a good nights sleep after a long trip. I would highly recommend it.

Fantastic accommodations! Hugh clean room with great views. The only negative for me was that my bed was too soft, but my wife thought hers was perfect.

Elite Plus Members beware
Posted Jan 11, 2013
The rooms you are assigned to for the listed rate have no coffee pot, old bedding, have a awfull smell and are desparately needing a remodel. If you ask for a free room upgrade for being an Elite Plus member, they don't upgrade you to the Summit Tower, they upgrade you instead to a alternate room that by no stretch should be called a 3 1/2 star. I have stayed here alot and it is always a hassle to get a room upgrade and always requires a supervisor to be called. So bottom line, I payed extra to stay there because they were supposed to be an elite plus hotel and they give nothing extra or only major hassles . NOT WORTH IT!!!!! Stay at the JA Nugget or Peppermill, they take good care of Elite Plus members
