Room smelled like smoke even though a non-smoking room. Loved all the things you could do.

Excellent hotel with lots to do!

Posted Jul 3, 2015
Pros: Location & amenities.
Cons: More non-smoking areas.
Location: Easy to get to - right off freeway. Walmart right across street, Mall & outlets close by. College within 10 min drive.
Our room was not ready for check-in and I was told I would be given a smoking room. When I refused the smoking room we had to wait another 1.5 hours to check-in. Once we finally got in our room everything was great except the AC would not crank up. The Hotel is very nice with tons to do - especially for kids. All staff was pleasant and helpful. Very close to airport & shopping.

Comfortable - Good Location

Posted Jul 2, 2015
Pros: Location and ease of access. Clean. Good selections for food - really liked the Cantina.
Cons: Parking!!! All parking was reserved as "Elite, Grand, etc." I'm sure this is very costly, but good option for regulars. What about OOT visitors?
Location: Didn't venture out much - was there on business.
Housekeeping staff was awesome! The always smiled and said hello in hallways. Very considerate, helpful and accommodating. Cant's say the same for front desk staff - every interaction with them was as though they just wanted to get through our questions and issues and go about their business. Not cordial at all...kind of cold and unconcerned. Long wait times on phone before arriving. Several nights experienced loud kids running up and down hallways up to midnight. Finally complained and it eventually stopped. Was there on business so didn't have time to visit pool or hot tub, but they looked inviting. Parking was terrible - usually had to circle parking lot several times and watch for someone to leave. Would suggest some type of cart to pick up people that are not able to walk that far, especially in the extreme heat. We paid a $10 per day resort fee for parking and other amenities, but felt like that was a rip off because of parking conditions.

Disappointing stay!

Posted Jul 1, 2015
Pros: The staff was nice and helpful.
We booked a non-Smoking, pet friendly room and it smelled of smoke and carpets were filthy and the furnishings were very old and tattered.

Money well spent.

Very nice place/resort. You do not need to leave the property plenty to do. Big plus for me is they allow dogs :) I can not see myself staying at another place due to all factors. Me and the fam loved it and will be back when visiting.

Anything besides gambling....

Posted Jun 29, 2015
I travel to Reno for work not pleasure. I am not a gambler and for that reason I chose to stay at the Grand Sierra Resort. The decision was based on the available activities that are not gambling based. I attended the movies and checked out the bowling lanes. The pool area was nice but the wait staff a little slow. I expect there to be some delay but 47 minutes to get my beer when I was on the bar end of the pool seemed a little ridiculous. I travel to the Reno area 3-4 times a year so I am sure I will chose the GSR again.
