The staff were great, from front desk to cocktail waitresses, everyone was super friendly and polite. Pools were small and too many kids around, not great to hang out in and have some peace and quiet away from the smoke from the casino. They had a modem or router installed in the ceiling of the room with a bright green light that kept me up the entire night. They give you 2 tiny pillows so if there are 2 of you in a king size bed, it'll be one each and a stiff neck.

Beautiful resort

Posted Jul 30, 2015
Pros: Facilities, room, amenities, staff, check-in, check-out, proximity to shopping, movies and Lake Tahoe.
Cons: In-room fridge and microwave.
Location: Lake Tahoe, shopping, Virginia Lake Park 2 blocks away with running/walking trail.
This hotel has beautiful facilities inside and out ... I'm mainly interested in the pool and fitness center. I found an excellent rate on Expedia, and if you avoid the gambling and the high-priced restaurants (the Island Buffet, with its rain forest theme, has a not-too-pricey weekday breakfast buffet), you've got yourself a fantastic deal. I come to relax by the beautiful pool (really makes you feel you're at an Italian villa) while my daughter visits friends. The Terrace lounge had a nice jazz band on the Mon. & Tues. evening I was there. We were upgraded from the North Wing to the Peppermill Tower with a view of the pool area. Next time I will ask for a fridge to be brought up to keep our own food, but otherwise the room was spacious and beautiful. When I was ready to check out, there were 2 "refreshment" charges even though we didn't touch the in-room snacks or drinks, and the front desk removed them immediately. I've only been to Reno twice and have NO reason to ever look elsewhere.

Avoid west wing

Posted Jul 30, 2015
Avoid west wing for the dirty corridors, looks like they don't clean. Room was ok though. And you need to tell them 3 times before they do something, well, upgrade us for a fee... We just wanted them to clean, not the complaining type usually...Pool in the shade half of the day, squeeky transats, noisy rooms (thin walls, got woken up by the next door's TV at 3am, was really loud). Positive: nice ice cream. ;) and pretty cheap rooms for a hotel close to Tahoe, nice jacuzzi in the upgraded room, overall OK but don't think we'll go back.

Nice hotel, staff very friendly.

Posted Jul 29, 2015
Pros: The staff and looks of the hotel and rooms.
Cons: Housekeeping of the rooms. The smell of the rooms and the dust that was piled up in the bathroom on the fixtures could be improved.
Location: We didn't go anywhere around the hotel.
Hotel was very nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was not as big as the pictures made it seem, but overall good room. We had a 6 month old baby with us and brought a porta-crib with and it fit great with room to spare. Found a fake fingernail on the floor of our room when we got there and called the front desk and within 5 minutes had housekeeping up there vacuuming the floor. The bed sheets were not very soft and comfy, but the mattress itself was nice. Every time we would leave and come back into the room, there was an odor in the room. Like a musky hotel smell, but turned up the AC and within 30 minutes the smell seemed to go away (or we got used to it.) The pools were very nice and clean. Overall, good experience at the hotel.

The Grand suite was amazing. Loved the in room jacuzzi and steam room/shower. Will definitely be coming back often. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this place.

West Wing - Old Hotel

Posted Jul 23, 2015
Pros: Not much
Cons: Put some money into the room. Its time for an update.
Location: Casino
Was put in the West Wing, which is an older part of the hotel detached from the main hotel. Rooms were dated and smelled like they had been smoked in for years. Bathroom was dirty and had long black hairs all over the floor - disgusting. Lately I feel that when booking through Expedia, the hotels are inclined to give you the worst rooms available.

Opulent hotel

Posted Jul 21, 2015
This is a very beautiful hotel and one of the most luxurious rooms I have ever enjoyed. We have 4 traveling in our party and had reserved a room with 2 beds. They said there were no more rooms with 2 beds and made me pay a significant fee to upgrade. Not good business practices in my eye. Restaurants are all high priced as well.
