Very nice but room for improvement

Posted Sep 27, 2014
Location: Lots of convenient and/or cheap places to eat within walking distance. Also a nice lake that you can swim in a few blocks away.
Finding the right hotel is all about what is important and what isn't. This hotel has a lot of nice features, but it also has a couple of noticeable shortcomings. First the good: The staff were uniformly pleasant, friendly and willing to go out of their way to help. The furnishings and bed were all very nice and comfy with the refrigerator a nice bonus. The room was quiet, even with children staying across the hall I heard next to nothing. It helps that the casino is in a separate building. There is plenty of parking and the location is convenient. Free, easy-to-use wi-fi. Now the bad: Figuring out where to go to check in proved complicated for me. The shower was perfect - if you stand 4' 10" tall. I'm 6' and I had to kneel down just to get water to hit my armpits. There is no business center and the wi-fi is on an unsecured network so I couldn't access the internet with my laptop. The signage for the hotel struck me as a bit dated. Finally, the good or bad, depending on how you like it: There is a truck stop right next door. The hotel is definitely pet friendly. The casino is on the smaller side.

IT WAS FINE EXCEPT THEY SENT SECURITY TO ASK US TO LEAVE ROOM WHEN WE HAD AN ADDITIONAL RESERVATION FOR SEVERAL MORE NIGHTS.. FRONT DESK NEVER CHECKED COMPUTER AND A REPRESENTATIVE FROM EXPEDIA CALLED THE DAY BEFORE TO CONFIRM MY ADDITIONAL NIGHTS AND TO JMAKE SURE WE COULD STAY IN THE SAME ROOM. I WAS VERY ANGRY

Good value for the cost of the hotel.

Posted Sep 23, 2014
Pros: Hotel is separate form the casino.
Cons: Room has been up-dated - bathroom could use an up-dating.
Location: Easy access to the main roads.
First room was located by the walk way. Asked for a different room on the second floor and the staff was very accomodating. Excellent restaurant - good food and decore at a reasonalble price.

Great park and Marian in your backyard

Posted Sep 19, 2014
Pros: Hotel is separate from casino. Marina with walk trail and park. Mall across from casino. Free parking and Wi-Fi. Rates reasonable for Reno area.
Cons: Sound from hall woke me on two occasions during our eight day stay. Possibly seal door better as sound defender.
Location: Very central in Sparks. Sparks Marina with 2+ mile walk trail and park with swimming access. Legends mall is a short walk around lake.
Stayed here during Reno AIR Races. Room was comfortable - had refrigerator and flat screen tv. WI-Fi was included. Liked the fact we could walk around lake during the cooler evening. As we are not much on gambling, it was nice to not have to go thru the casino just to get to the room.

Best Hotel for the Reno Air Race Event

Posted Sep 18, 2014
Pros: Everyone.......... I mean everyone was helpful....... courteous and very friendly. Rooms very well appointed & CLEAN. Food was EXCELLENT!
Cons: Bathroom sink & tub drains need a maintenance cleaning program. I had a problem with that! Shower Heads and Tub Faucets need to be updated.
Location: Great location for the RENO AIR RACES.....................
Just a fantastic stay.......... I will always rebook at the Western Village Inn & Casino in Sparks!

Attractive room

Posted Sep 17, 2014
Pros: Beautiful furniture, I liked that there was a desk and a table with chairs and a loveseat with ottoman; super awesome bedside lighting with easy access outlets and built-in USB charging ports; granite-ish bathroom sink. My room had a nice view of the lake. Lot's of parking. Firm but comfortable bed; large fridge Cons: terrible Wi-Fi signal strength (only good if you stand in the hallway). The shower has a water-saving shower head that is so loud I brought my sound meter into the shower and it registered 89 decibels; enough to require earplugs! The shower controls were old and temperamental, it was hard to get the water temp just right. Ice machine was broken.

Not good

Posted Sep 11, 2014
Pros: Not much
Cons: Cleanliness and maintenance of the building.
Location: Near beach and harbor.
The front desk staff was courteous and friendly. This is where the good ends and we entered the room. First off it smelled like dirt and chemicals. Had there been any rooms left in the area we would have left immediately since we had our two infants with us. I opened the door and maxed out the AC which helped to push out the smell. Later we put the kids on the bed and found it to be coved with sand. This was on the comforter and blanket but the sheets were clean. As the evening progressed we discovered a leak near the wall and the carpet was getting wet. In time it became a wet mark about 3 feet in diameter. We notified the cleaning staff and they must have found what was leaking next door and shut it off. The old saying of "you get what you pay for" is accurate.

Friendly staff

Staff was very accommodating. Problems with original booked room, but moved us to a better room with a view. Slots didn't pay out for us on this trip, but there is always next time.
