A good hotelPosted Jan 12, 2013
No telephone in the room , no room cleaning everyday ,and the breakfast is expensive and worthless. However the girls at the reception are very helpful. The swimming pool is very big and beautiful.

Old & in bad conditionsPosted Mar 6, 2012
Location: Location is fine and close to the beach
The overall hotel is a huge complex which was nearly empty at the time of being there thus the overall impression was that we are in a ghost building. The whole building seems very old. The pool is ok. There is no towel included in the room. There is no such thing as late check out but 10 Euro fee for each overdue hour after the 10 hour check-out time.

Le Domaine Des Mascareignes in Réunion IslandPosted Jan 12, 2012 on Hotels.com
DO NOT BOOK THIS "HOTEL". This is the worst "hotel" I have ever stayed in. The "hotel" is very old, outdated and in desperate need of some serious money spending on it. The reception is hidden away in a little back room, everywhere needs repainting, the whole place smells of cooking and the place generally is very shabby and run down. There were no staff other than a kind and helpful porter (in shorts and T-shirt) who kept apologising for the terrible state of the "hotel" (he told us that he constantly receives complaints). As for our room, it was from a horror movie. The air-con was completely ineffective, the TV was very old and broken, the fridge too was very old, dirty and broken, the bathroom was disgusting, the furniture and bed were cheap and antiquated, the room door only opened half way and it was generally very dirty. There were no towels provided, these had to be hired for €8 each (fortunately we had our own). We demanded to be moved to another room (that turned out to be a studio) which was of exactly the same standard other than the air-con was a slight improvement (it was still very warm inside the room) and the TV worked (local channels only). To top it all, we had to pay a €100 deposit upon arrival (for what?) and at check-out the receptionist was very annoyed at us as we hadn't washed up the couple of plates that were in the room which we had used!!! Do not be fooled by the internet picture of the pool area (which looks lovely). THIS "HOTEL" SHOULD BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS. We were told that numerous French families, arriving in Réunion after a long-haul flight from France, are in floods of tears when they reach the "hotel". Fortunately we were only staying one night. Hence, I feel duty bound to warn you not to book this "hotel" under ANY circumstances so that another family does not have its holiday ruined. It should be taken off all internet booking sites. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. The whole place needs pulling down and rebuilding.

Not a hotelPosted Dec 12, 2011
Location: St Gilles and Boucon are both beautiful places to visit and stay.
Whilst visually this is a nice destination, if you are looking for a hotel, this is not the place to stay. Prices do not include anything other than the actual room, towels and the other standard comodities are not included. They also expect that you clean your room before you leave. We simply had packed our rubbish into bags and left them at the door, but upon checking out we were told that wasn't good enough and that we had to take our garbage down to the bins ourselves. The beds also weren't very comfortable.

inconvient...Posted Nov 14, 2011
The beach near the hotel is nice. Unfortunately, it was closed when I was there due to a recent shark attack. The victim never surfaced. If you stay there, bring your own soap, shampoo, and towel. They provide them for a fee. It's a "residence" hotel.....but not like a Residence Inn. This place saw it's better days 15 years ago.

€24 for use of towelsPosted Nov 14, 2011
During check in we were asked for €100 deposit which was according to the receptionist for "cleaning" which was disconcerting. Upon check out we were returned our deposit minus €24 for the use of the towels. This is the first time in over 100 hotels we have ever been charged for the use of towels. We would expect they come with the room. When challenged the manager became obstructive stating "it's policy" and when asked for a list of hotel charges was unable to produce one. Expedia (English) lists towels as room amenities, Expedia (French) Serviettes, linge de lit supplémentaires (Towels, Bed Linen Extra) Other room amenities listed on expedia; Balcony - No Air conditioning - No Minibar - No No bedding other than sheets and pillow cases. The pictures of the hotel/rooms on expedia definately DO NOT represent the room we stayed in, or the hotels current condition. Artistic licence is one thing but the discrepancy is staggering. Beware a stay at this hotel IMHO will see you losing your deposit on spurious "extra" charges. Not recommended in any shape or form - stay at a B&B (chambre d'hotes) instead.
