“a bit walk”
We stayed there from November 22-24 for 2 nights. The hotel is nice and clean. It has free wifi which is a bonus. The breakfast was good with the regular stuff you would expect from a typical European hotel. It's a bit walk to the center of the city but we ddin't mind that much. It's always good to walk after a meal. The only thing not very good was that the first day, we didn't receive any maid services. Not sure why. I would recommend it if the price is good. We had a good deal.
“Overall Good Hotel”
After an early flight, an early check in at the hotel was not a problem. The welcome by the reception could of been more friendly by the receptionist. Vistied in March and the weather was still a bite cold. The rooms were comfortable/warm throughout due to the natural heating system they have in Iceland. I chose ths hotel b/c they had the continental breakfast option which I read in the reviews .Thought it woudl be a good way to cost saver and it was. Hotel was convenient. Only 10-15 min from shops. Tours also available to book at hotel.
“iceland vacation in december”
its nice small hotel in the center of Reykjvaik, they offered breakfast. Breakfast was quite simple, its egg(boiled), ham, cheese, tomatoes, cucumber, bread, croissant, coffee, tea, orange juice, apple juice, water, cereal, milk, etc... Breakfast is about the same every day but if u want to get breakfast there is a cafe thats a block down the street. ITs 890kr's for breakfast which is about the same things they offer in the hotel. We had a 3 twin bed which was great i mean they were small but comfortable. The room was clean, but the refrigerator wasn't really working, we have a malfunctioning lamp but was fixed after we notify the housekeeping. They do have adapters available if you forgot to bring yours. the location of the hotel is great, 2 blocks down the road is the bus terminal that have bus that takes u around the city for 280krs per ride or get a day pass for 600krs. its close by to the main street for shopping--much of the food and souvenir shops are further down the main street about 10 mins walk. the famous hot dog with everything is 15 min walk to old harbor or take the 13 bus that brings u down to the harbor and just 1 min walk to the stand. For 280 it a hot dog made of lamb meat, got to try it! I would recommend it to others to say here.
“Good Deal in Reykjavik”
This is a good hotel if you are not looking for luxury, but a clean, quiet place to stay. The staff were very helpful and all speak English, we booked several excursions with the desk and all went smoothly. We were no more than a 15 minute walk from the main shopping street and 10 minutes walk to the art museum, also right on a city bus route. A simple but serviceable breakfast buffet is included with all rooms which is a huge time and money saver! Also, we were 2 adults and one teen and were able to book a true "triple" room (no extra charge for a roll away bed) that had 3 single beds and ample room for everyone. My only comment is that the mini fridge was not working properly and the alarm clock also...neither of which we had any particular use for anyway (just drink the cold tap water in Iceland it is better than bottled!)...
“Great Hotel for Reykjavik”
We had a wonderful, large loft suite on the 4th floor. It had a huge skylight. Families with small children or those with disabilities should be aware, however, that access to the queensize bed requires a climb up a circular staircase. There are a few affordable restaurants near the hotel and a short walk takes one to the main shopping street with loads of restaurants, shops, etc. Breakfast was great, including fruit, ham, cheese, croissants, and rolls.
“pretty close to home :)”
The hotel is slightly outside the real heart of the town, but Reykjavik is small anyway so it is within a walking distance of most you'd need to reach. We stayed at room 317 (on a corner of the building), which was spacious, clean and well worth the money. Upon check-in we received a warm welcome plus some recommendations (without even asking) on what we should visit in Reykjavik, and this feeling of special hospitality lasted until the end of our stay. The buffet breakfast was excellent (not a huge selection but what they had was extremely tasty, including the juices and coffee). Do ask for their recommendation for a restaurant for dinner - in a small country everyone knows everyone. So if they tell you to go to a place run by a boyfriend of one of the hotel staff, there's no catch - I've never had such a good fish-based dinner as we had! For all you internet addicts, there's one computer for public use in the lobby as well, so there's no fear of losing touch with the outside world. The TV, as well as the number of channels in the room was tiny but hey, you don't go to Iceland to watch TV! Overall, a recommended experience.
“Found Reykjavik on a budget”
I chose Hotel Reykjavik because it fit my budget for a long weekend visit. I would recomment it for its price and location. Hotel Reykjavik is in the center of Reykjavik. It is in a residential neighborhood about a ten minute walk from the main city center area. It is several streets off of the main shopping street. The best part about the location is that is is close enough to the central day and night activity, but the immediate surroundings are quiet enough that you can catch up on your sleep while parties rage on elsewhere until the early morning. Airport transfers are easy--the hotel is near the main bus terminal and you can arrange for FlyBus drop off and pick up directly from the hotel. The hotel is clean. The rooms are adequate, if not spare. Many of the satellite channels on the small-ish TV did not seem to come in. There is a single internet terminal in the main lobby. There was seldom any wait to use it.
“Tourist Hotel -- Right for the Price”
Hotel was clean and in a safe location. If you like walking everything was within a 15 to 20 minute walk. The breakfast was basic and adequate. The hotel restaurant "Raudara" was a big surprise, as the food and service was outstanding. If you want a good deal in Reykjavik, I'd recommend this hotel.
“Overpriced. Tiny rooms. Noisy”
The rooms are so small that we couldn't open both of our suitcases together. The staff couldn't find us a double room so we stayed in a twin room for the first night and them moved to a double one the following night. There was a lot of noise from the street even though we stayed in the 4th floor, and we couldn't fall asleep. I have no idea why this hotel is ranked with 4 stars.
