“Do not recommend”
poor lighting in the room.
“Good choice at a good price”
Fosshotel Baron is a pleasant hotel in an excellent location in Reykjavik. The rooms are quite small (even by European standards), but the location, buffet breakfast (included), friendly staff, and general feel make it a terrific choice anyway.
“PERFECT PLACE AS A BASE”
Our room was small and simple, but very clean and had everything we needed, plus, we paid extra for an ocean view. I loved the location of the hotel because it was only 2 or 3 short blocks from the main street with all the stores, but the hotel was on a quiet street away from the hustle and bustle. Breakfast was ample and we would definitely stay here again.
“great hotel”
love the hotel location - close to the main drag but far enough away from the madding crowd. we got a room facing the marina and had incredible view of the flaming sunset. breakfast was good, room was clean, price was great. no complaints.
“A nice, standard hotel”
This hotel is nothing fancy, yet meets all basic needs/standards of service and cleanliness. Location is great, main city street is located directly behind it, as well as a convenient, 24hour supermarket. Hotel staff is very accomodating, there is a computer with free internet in the lobby, a nice continental breakfast every morning, and a small bar open at night. If you are looking for luxury, you will not be impressed. If you are looking for a reasonably priced, standard and pleasant hotel to stay at, you will not be disappointed.
“Comfortable and convenient”
Although the hotel is a bit rundown it was very comfortable and in a convenient location. As is the case for many who arrive in Reykjavik on Iceland Air flights from the US, we arrived early in the morning. Happily we were able to check in right away and, surprisingly, we were given a suite with two bedrooms, a kitchenette and view of the harbor. We look forward to returning to Reykjavik someday and spending more time exploring this interesting and beautiful country. And, we may very well stay at the Fosshotel Baron again!
“Small rooms, friendly helpful staff, good breakfast”
Location was a short walk to the city center but the area around the hotel was nothing special. Very clean, very small rooms, good showers. The price was right considering how expensive everything in Iceland is.
“Great stay, great help, great location”
This place is perfect; they gave us a room at 8am, since we flew in early. They upgraded the room cheaply when they saw we have a 2 year old son. The breakfast is (partially) there after 10am, and partially at 4am (early flight out). Very helpful staff and good location; everything in walking distance, but a quiet location. The blinds are thick enough for that evening sunshine... Only issues we had was the shower flooding everytime we used it due to a short shower curtain and the room didn't get cleaned unless you ask for it. But they have minaral pools, so why take a shower in the hotel anyway?
“Good choice”
Small room which is typical for Europe but good beds and hot shower. Be prepared that hot water smells like sulphur because they use geothermal water in Iceland. Very gracious and helpful front desk staff. Very reasonably priced for Iceland.
“would go back”
The hotel was perfect for us. Breakfast buffet is beautiful--fresh smoked salmon, herring, and melons every morning. People were very friendly. My one and only complaint is that there is one computer in the lobby that is circa 1989. Besides that, we would definitely go back.
