WonderfulPosted May 2, 2015
Cons: The only thing we missed was a phone to contact family members who stayed someplace else. We had to rely on them checking their emails frequently.
Location: Sight seeing, dining, shopping, oldest pool close by. Sports park/pool/botanical garden still within walking distance (30-40 min along shore).
Very courteous and accommodating staff, nice clean apartment. We even got a brand new sofa bed! Very comfy bedding. Good location, just minutes to the main shopping and dining (tourist) area and shore, less than 15 minutes to old part of town, yet very quiet. This will not be our one and only visit to Iceland, and when we come back, we will definitely try to stay at Grettisborg Apartments again. We loved it.

Our apartment was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen was very well stocked so we could prepare all of our own meals - the closest food store is just a few minute walk away! The location was perfect; Reykjavik is a very easy city to get around in and all of the shops, museums and attractions are in walking distance. The staff is very easy to get a hold of if they cannot be found on location (the building is very much set up as private apartments and there is no reception). The laundry was a bit confusing to use at first, but super convenient and really great to have on location. We really enjoyed our stay at Grettisborg Apartments and wished we had stayed there longer during our time in Reykjavik.

week long stay in reykjavikPosted Mar 23, 2015
this place was perfect for a couple's vacation in iceland's capital. Oddny was so great about emailing us before our trip with info and tips for our trip. location was ideal bc it was on grettisgata which is directly behind laugavegur- the main street with most of the city's restaurants, shops, bars, and etc. the apt itself was clean and very spacious for 2 ppl (it can house up to 4 ppl supposedly). the kitchen with refrigerator, oven, microwave, and full set of dishes and utensils was so perfect for storing drinks and leftover food throughout the week. the decor was so cute and very stylish. no problems with noise or cold. great place and highly recommended.

Clean, convenient and reliable owner. RecommendedPosted Mar 6, 2015
Chosen as a base for exploring the surrounding areas. convenient (40 minutes from the airport & only 2 minutes walk from the main high street in Reykjavik) Parking was never an issue and if you are out during the day you'll never pay! (charges only apply from about 10am until 6pm and even if you do its only about 70p per hour) Nothing is too much trouble for the owners. Onsite laundrette is convenient and the apartment is so warm! comfy beds, lounge with LCD Satellite TV and open plan well appointed kitchen with dishwasher. We will return to Iceland and will not choose anywhere else... and far cheaper than most hotels! Oh and plenty of towels are provided too. We had a few questions and needed help before and during the stay... the owner responded in detail very quickly and even visited rather than email when we were in Iceland to help us which was a nice touch.

Grettisborg Self-Catering ApartmentsPosted Mar 5, 2015
Pros: Location, apartment layout and décor, friendly management.
Location: This property is in the center of Reykjavik. An easy walk to most of the main sights and public transport.
I thought this place represented pretty good value. The units in the main building are spacious - full bath, separate bedroom, efficiency kitchen. The property is centrally located - near to the BSI bus station terminal, walking distance to most museums, close to the center of town where you will find all manner of restaurants and shops. The management is pretty chill. It's much easier to contact them if you have your mobile phone in hand, since they don't seem to be always around the property. Just be aware that this is not a hotel in the sense that you won't find room service, a concierge, etc.. I would recommend for the more independently minded traveler as an excellent option from which to explore Iceland.

Great apartment with all the facilities you needPosted Feb 23, 2015
Stayed with Gretisborg for 4 nights in February 2015. Checked in at 2pm by collecting keys from laundry as no official reception onsite however very friendly property owner is close by and in fact came out of his home to greet us and take to our apartment. Good information on facilities and tours is provided in room and common laundry area. The owner is also more than happy to help out with ideas and tour suggestions. This was my second trip to Reyjkavic and I'm disappointed my first visit was not with Gretisborg. Hope to stay here again in the future

Stylish and in a good location.Posted Feb 9, 2015
Very highly recommended. You can tell there is a lot of pride taken in these apartments by the owners. You are renting an apartment so you won't have the facility's of a hotel and on our final night when the apartment below us were having a very loud party staff on site would have been an advantage but the apartments are still excellent. The apartments are well equipped, Clean are in an very good location and have possibly the comfiest beds I have ever slept in. Unfortunately the double bed was actually 2 singles pushed together, shame really because the apartment was otherwise almost perfect. Overall these apartments are very stylist very well looked after and you will find it hard to book a better place for the price.

Perfect size for a 2-3 people.Posted Feb 4, 2015
Pros: The shower, very powerful and hot. Loved it.
Cons: When walking in, it wasn't very warming, I felt like I just walked into a box with all the essentials for a studio room. Can include a map of the city
Location: Great location, right next to high street (although Reykavik is not that big to begin with).
It was clean, and the shower was nice. Although the room didn't feel very welcoming at first, but very functional, and close to everything.

Good value for short stays.Posted Jan 27, 2015 on Hotels.com
Our family of four, including 2 older teenagers, stayed here for 2 nights in December 2014. The location is fantastic; close to convenient shopping and easy for tours to collect and drop off. It's a quiet, residential area and felt very safe to walk around in at all times. The apartment was very small and ceratinly not equipped for 4 people to stay self-contained. The 2 single beds were either end of an 'L' shaped sofa and there was barely enough room for our 4 backpacks. However, in terms of value for money it was good as Iceland is expensive. With a bigger saucepan we would have been able to cook a family meal. The apartment was fairly clean and the use of a laundry was very welcome. For a short family stay it was fine but for longer stays it would be worth spending extra, having a little more space and saving money on eating out.
