Good locationPosted Apr 7, 2014
No atmosphere at the hotel. Not very welcoming. Bar next door full of locals so sat outside! Building work at back of hotel where we were, very very noisy.

Excellent HotelPosted Apr 3, 2014
Pros: It is a smaller hotel that caters to the client and wants the client to have the best experiences that Iceland has to offer. Loved them!
Location: There are churches and harbor near by as well as great dining locations. Centrally located with a grocery store over on the next street.
The front desk staff was very knowledgeable about the tours that we wanted to take and made the arrangements for the tours and transportation for all of the tours we wanted to take. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

Great Place right in the heart of it all!Posted Apr 1, 2014
Pros: Liked the location of the hotel, how clean the hotel was.
Cons: The only thing that could be improved was if there was a bell boy, we had to carry our bags upstairs because the elevator was temporarily out of order
Location: Location was right in the center of Reykjavik, close by to restaurants and coffee shops as well as 24 hours food stores.
The Hotel Borg was not only extremely clean with very nice rooms (stayed in a suite). The location couldn't have been better. It was close to Iceland Tours where we could just walk to and get on the bus to either go to the Blue Lagoon or go and try to find the Northern Lights. The bathroom was very modern and clean the room had a great view of the town. (Stayed on the 4th Floor) We loved walking around, and enjoying a great breakfast as Café Paris right next door to the hotel.

A bed and breakfast with building work in progressPosted Mar 26, 2014
Pros: Tomas and our "second" room and breakfast staff.
Cons: Open the restaurant and finish the building work
Location: The location is great, everything is within walking distance.
The hotel is ok but we initially had a room in the annexe, right next to major building work, taking place next door. This work was going on from 8am to 7pm, seven days a week and is very, very noisy. The Borg Hotel also has building work of it's own taking place at the rear of the hotel. We couldn't change rooms till after the first night but (many thanks to Tomas in reception) we were able to move the next day to a lovely room in the main hotel. I also heard other guests complain about the building work noise. The "renowned" restaurant in the hotel was closed and there was no room service available. Not what you would expect from a 4 star hotel.

The hotel was in the best location possible! The staff was okay...not as helpful & pleasant as expected (although the gentleman that worked the overnight was awesome).

Excellent Hotel Excellent LocationPosted Mar 17, 2014
Pros: The hotel was very comfortable, clean, warm & friendly.
Location: The location was absolutely superb making it easy to walk to the many restaurants, bars & shops.
From arriving at the hotel to our very early departure the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. The hotel was very well located and very easy to walk to the numerous restaurants & bars. The room itself was very comfortable and warm when the snow fell and temperature plummeted! Would definitley return.

Classic hotel in the Center of townPosted Mar 16, 2014
Pros: We loved the historic feel of the hotel, recalling the elegance of the 1930's.
Location: Hotel Borg is located on the square next to the legislature building and an historic church. The harbor and museums are close by.
We had a great week in Reykjavik. The Hotel Borg is perfectly situated for easy access to all of the city sites, museums and shops. Excellent restaurants are close by. The hotel is beautifully restored. Our rooms were comfortably appointed and the hotel breakfast buffet makes for a pleasant and leisurely start to the day. We were there in mid-March ( hardly the high season) but there was plenty to do and see.

Nice Hotel but they seem to have a habit of doublePosted Mar 5, 2014
Cons: customer relations and booking system
Location: Excellent location, great restaurants nearby.
The hotel is in a great location with good rooms however they double booked us and other guests who had booked via Expedia with a conference who had booked about a year previously. According to the hotel this was Expedia's fault but I suspect it is down to the poor organisation within the hotel. We were not advised about the double booking until we checked in and were told we would have to move to an Apartment hotel around the corner for our last night, not the start you want on your holiday. We asked what compensation we would receive on the basis the other hotel was not the same class and the reception advised that would need to be discussed with the reception manager who wasn't available and would have to be contacted via e-mail. Staff were courteous but unable to make decisions on their own. Having packed and gone down to reception on the last day we were then told they had some cancellation and we could stay, they would upgrade our rooms to suites but despite telling us it was for both couples in our party and they would ensure our luggage was moved. We turned up later to find only one of the two rooms had been upgraded and the other room was the same standard as before on the same floor. Why we could not stay in the original room god only knows, what a shambles. I would not stay in this hotel again.

Lovely hotelPosted Mar 1, 2014
We spent 4 nights at the hotel Borg and had a great time. Room spacious and well appointed. Staff we're extremely helpful. Great atmosphere and as it's in the centre of the old town it's easy to find nice restaurants and cafés nearby. We travelled with our 8 year old daughter and had a wonderful trip.
