Spoil yourself at Hotel Borg.Posted Jan 25, 2015
Pros: Luxury, Location and friendly staff.
Cons: They have a nice breakfast area - would be nice to open it up for after dinner drinks :)
Location: Location couldn't be better - a short walk to almost anywhere in the city. It was very near Old Harbor which was very convenient for us.
As is becoming our custom, if you will, during the Christmas/New Years holiday we like to find a secluded cabin and simply relax for a week surrounding by books and more than a few bottles of good wine. When returning home though - we stay for a couple of days in the city before our return flight home. In this case, Hotel Borg in Reykjavik. What a lovely hotel and great location! The room and bed was very comfortable and the bathroom/shower was extremely nice as well. We had questions about excursions that we wanted to go on and the staff were very helpful and accomodating to set us up.

Lovely Hotel in central locationPosted Jan 24, 2015
Pros: How central it was
Cons: Maybe rugs on the wooden floors, when someone was walking round in heels on the floor above, it was quite loud
Location: Lots of restaurants, walking distance to the main town centre
Really enjoyed staying here, it was central but not at all noisy. We didn't eat here as we were out early every day but the staff were super friendly and the room was warm, comfy and clean

Upmarket HotelPosted Jan 13, 2015
Pros: Rooms and communal areas are beautifully furnished in an art deco style. The staff were pleasant and helpful. B
Cons: A better hairdryer in the room! Not good for those of us with a lot of long hair!
This is a fairly upmarket hotel, very centrally located in the centre of town. I booked it as it looked more cosy and inviting than the alternatives which appeared sparse on the websites and looked like they had been furnished in IKEA. We were not disappointed. We had a large rear facing room on the fifth floor. The room and the bathroom were spacious, beautifully furnished, with a very large and comfortable bed. Lovey bed linen, feather pillows, everything felt crisp and clean. The décor and lighting in the room gave it a lovely warm and cosy feel - I'm not one for sparse white walls and bright lights. The view was not spectacular, but balanced against that it was quieter than the front where the nightlight is very active. I brought my daughter here as a treat, but I would happily come back with my Partner for a romantic weekend. Highly recommended.

Charming hotel in an amazing location.Posted Jan 10, 2015
Pros: Charming building. Extraordinary location. Clean room.
Cons: Staff could be a little more polite and appreciative.
Location: The hotel is right at the centre of downtown. Front of hotel overlooks a park, parliament and a pretty little garden. Shops, cafes, dining all around
We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Borg. It was short, but overall pleasant. The room was very clean a modern bathroom. Heated marble or granite tile floors in the bathroom were wonderful. The room had older parquet flooring which was in fine condition. We had a king bed. It was very springy, didn't seem to be pillow top., but we both slept well in it. Also, there was a desk/chair, coffee maker with a small selection of complimentary (I think) tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Also in the corner was a swivelling lounge chair. Flat screen tv was a cheaper brand with slightly distorted audio, but it did the trick sufficiently. The only small downside for us was the front desk staff. While they were not outright rude, it wouldn't have hurt for them to smile and perhaps say thank you. Whenever I needed to talk to them, I felt like I was interrupting or otherwise inconveniencing them. At checkout, I gave the keys and thanked them. They were a little distracted and as I made my way from the desk they told me "Wait.... did you take anything from the mini bar or order anything to your room?" I replied that I hadn't, and they said "Ok, you can go then". With no thank you, or questioning whether we enjoyed our stay or anything of the sort. So overall, I really do recommend the hotel. No need to get hung up on these small staff issues.

Perfect hotel for a weekend break!Posted Dec 29, 2014
Arranged Hotel Borg as a weekend gift for my wife. Fantastic location sandwiched between the Harbour and the main st which contains numerous shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. Hotel is clean, smart, tidy, with helpful staff and good facilities. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a weekend in Reykjavik! Ps) We upgraded to a suite and it was well worth the extra cost.

Local Flavor, Excellent LocationPosted Dec 29, 2014
The historic Hotel Borg could not have been in a better location for access to local shops and quaint streets. Diners, elegant restaurants, 24/7 grocery, Icelandic shops, and the harbor are all within a few minutes' walk. Visiting during the Christmas holidays, the lighted decorations and traditions of Christmas were wonderful additions to the local experience. Even on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, there were opportunities to travel to outlying areas through excursion companies.

Hotel Borg was charming and the location could not be better. The staff was pleasant. There is construction next to the hotel so a lot of noise which was not an issue late night but while resting during the early hours.
