Very friendly hotel, near all amenitiesPosted Dec 1, 2013
Pros: Loved the people, felt safe as i was travelling alone. Arranged all of my trips for me,felt very relaxed here.
Cons: Breakfast in the room could have been a bit better, scrambled eggs were cold, but gave me a mountain of bacon!!
Location: Very central location, only a few streets away from the main shops and cafes. Also not very far to a few museums.
Loved the location of this hotel, staff were excellent,,very helpful.

Quiet area but in central locationPosted Dec 1, 2013
Great homely hotel cosy intermate feel. Realy important to select junior suite as a minimum. Location is great just a 5 minute stroll straight into th centre. Highly recommended.

Comfortable relaxed luxuryPosted Nov 27, 2013
Cons: Get rid of the hotel sign on the roof. It ruins Reykjavik at night.
Location: Good location. On the quiet and atmospheric Thingholt hill in the centre of Reykjavik surrounded by old (for Iceland) colourful houses.
This is a friendly hotel that manages to feel both relaxing and luxurious at the same time. Helpful staff and wonderful art on the walls. Well located - only 5 minutes from Bankastraeti and Laugavegur. Great art on the walls and a bar with a bit of life in it. The only bad thing is the big tacky pink Hotel Holt sign on the roof that you can see from miles away. It really isn't a tacky hotel at all apart from that.

Quiet yet convenientPosted Nov 24, 2013
Pros: Junior suite (for under $200 per night) was spacious enough for two people; located on a quiet side street near the main shopping streets.
Cons: A few of the lobby furnishings and rugs could use updating and the two (free for use) computers in the lobby are sorely out of date.
Location: The shopping streets begin about three blocks away so access to clubs, bars, restaurants, and all manner of other shopping is easily accessed.
The hotel staff have an excellent idea of what service means. They are all polite, cheerful, and helpful at every turn. When I arrived early and my room was not yet available, they offered me free breakfast and held my luggage. When I needed directions, a map, suggestions on where to eat and shop they were all cheerfully provided and their suggestions all suited me well. Fortunately for me, the entire also speaks very clear English. The Hotel Holt was exactly as described; charming, functional, on a quiet side street near the main shopping areas.

Nice Hotel close to the action, not too closePosted Nov 13, 2013
Pros: The very basic room (was clean and comfortable. The front desk women, who we peppered with questions multiple times on multiple days were awesome -5+
Cons: The opposite was true for the bar and restaurant. No staff to be found without persistence, slow and uninterested. Again, multiple experiences.
Location: Location is great -- close to the main area but on a quiet area a couple blocks away so it was a great sleep!

The staff make this hotelPosted Nov 2, 2013
Pros: Staff and location.
Cons: Maybe a refurb especially the shower in the bathroom.
Location: Only a 5 minute walk to the centre including the Reykjavik Excursions office.
Nice hotel overall, just worthy of a 4* rating. The staff are extremely helpful and polite which really does make a difference. The room was ok, a little dated and there was some noise (either from a heating system or neighbouring rooms). It was in a great location, only a few minutes walk from the main street and tourist attractions.

Classic hotel in the cityPosted Sep 28, 2013
Pros: Staff were welcoming, helpful and genuine in their approach to guests.
Cons: My room was a little stale. It had been raining heavily for days, so perhaps no windows were opened.
Location: 5 minute walk to everywhere worth visiting in Reykjavik. A great location, but away from busy street noise. Dozing to the sound of church bells.
Staff were genuinely friendly and helpful in this classic old hotel. Had a fantastic meal in the restaurant; the chef was obviously not afraid to experiment with flavours and textures -- a real treat! Enjoyed looking at the amazing art works. Very easy to find your way around Reykjavik. Room smelt a little musty, but was warm and comfortable.

Excellent location for sight-seeing, quiet hotelPosted Sep 1, 2013 on Hotels.com
We arrived very early in the morning from an overnight flight and were unsure of what we would find. The lobby was dark and "old" looking. To our delight we found a friendly staff who were ready to help us enjoy our stay. Our room wasn't ready so they provided breakfast while we waited. The room was very clean and comfortable with an extra "bathroom" with just a deep bath tub and plenty of hot water which was a wonderful way to end the day of being a tourist. The location of the hotel was within easy walking distance of all the sights and as an extra benefit is located in a quiet neighborhood. We had some disappointing meals in the city and decided to try the hotel restaurant which served a meal as good or better than the best restaurants in major US cities. The cured salmon starter was exceptional and the lamb tenderloin the best I have ever enjoyed, The wine list was good, the environment enjoyable. A drink in the lounge sitting on large comfortable leather chairs surrounded by art was a good end of the day. We will return to the Holt without hesitation.

Great location within walking distance of all center city locations, lovely, friendly, helpful staff, marvelous food. Rooms are modern and clean. Beds are fine but not great. We would definitely return!
