Discreet and welcomingPosted Mar 5, 2014
Pros: It has created a warm and welcoming atmosphere that one looks forward to coming back to after a day working or sightseeing.
Location: Quiet street but very central - only minutes to the cathedral, shopping and cafes and no more than ten minutes walk to the old harbour and restaurants
A quality hotel, from the leather upholstry and wood panelling to the quiet atmosphere. Very clean, well appointed bedrooms with comfortable beds, some rooms definitely small doubles by international hotel standards but perfectly adequate. A delicious breakfast buffet. Young friendly staff ready to help you with any issue. Great place for peace and quiet and yet only a few minutes walk from a main shopping street and the wonderful cathedral and no more than 10/12 minutes walk to the main square and the old harbour area with its many restaurants and cafes. Definitely worth its star rating.

Lovely Hotel 10 min from centrePosted Mar 3, 2014
Lovely clean hotel. Pleasant staff, who helped sort out my Icelandic Sat.Nav and booked restaurants for us. Clean rooms, not huge , but big enough. Tea and coffee in room. Mini bar expensive ( aren't they all). Restaurant is very expensive but plenty of choice in town within easy walking distance. Bakery 50 yards up street selling croissants and coffee for simple breakfast. Small shop just around corner .

Nice Hotel with Wonderful StaffPosted Feb 26, 2014
Pros: The staff, the presentation, the cleanliness, the restaurant.
Location: Regular pickups from the hotel were a big plus that took us to see the Northern Lights, the Blue Lagoon and the Geysir/Gullfoss tour.
My stay at Hotel Holt was very comfortable, and very enjoyable. The hotel is situated mere streets away from the Hallgrimskirkja Church, and within walking distance of the centre of the city. The staff were very helpful and pleasant, and made sure we as visitors were treated very well from the start to end of our stay.

Never got there .........Posted Feb 24, 2014
Cons: Sorting their bookings out
Location: Would have been very good........
Booked this hotel in October for a Feb stay and they cancelled our booking less than 24hrs before we left ........we were found an excellent replacement (Hilton Nordika )but much further out and a totally different "style" of hotel . Don't know if it was Hotel Holt or Expedia who messed up but I would be anxious about booking this hotel again. For info when I grumbled a very nice girl from Expedia who was managing the problem phoned the hotel again to see if they'd had any cancellations and they said no so they were obviously full - can't see how they could only work this out 24 hrs before an arrival.

Comfortable hotel 5 minutes from city centrePosted Feb 24, 2014
Pros: Great view across city from my top floor room (hotel front). Really friendly and helpful staff.
Cons: The shoe polish machines need cream in them!
Location: .Has the feel of being in a traditional residential area but is only 5 minutes walk from the city centre
Not an old hotel but inside has a feel of faded splendour like an old country house: soft leather sofas with oil paintings on the walls. Good buffet breakfast. Clean, comfortable rooms. Hotel staff very helpful in booking excursions etc. A great base for exploring Reykjavik which can be readily explored on foot. The hotel is very warm. The hotel restaurant appears very expensive even by Icelandic standards: but plenty of others near by across the price range. For a real treat of Icelandic traditional fare try Prir Frakkar just two minutes walk from the hotel

Pretty place - close to the cityPosted Feb 21, 2014
Pros: Friendly and safe feeling with a neat and weird art vibe.
Cons: I always thinks beds could be better.
Location: Hallgrimska - or something like that - a tall church in the city. Tons of tours, and the main strip of the city.
I had a very nice stay here. The staff was very friendly, there was breakfast every morning, it's close to the city, very conveniently located (once I got my bearings, I realized I was about 5 blocks from "downtown" which is more like main street meets Sunset), and I think it is reasonably priced.

Hotel HoltPosted Feb 14, 2014
Pros: Character, friendly staff, quiet but convenient location
Location: A 2 minute walk to shops/ restaurants. A 10 minute walk from the Hallgrímskirkja. Noodle Station was a great, cheap place for convenient, quick food.
Efficient, polite check-in. Friendly staff. On checking out at 0400, whilst waiting for our airport transfer the receptionist offered us juice and coffee which I thought was great service. Character; the décor whilst possibly not to everyones taste, does give the hotel its own character Location; quiet, residential back street, yet only a 2 minute walk from shops, restaurants and 10 minute walk from nearby attractions.

The reception staff are amazing.Posted Jan 14, 2014
Long weekend in Reykjavik with family. Hotel reception staff helped us out with everything, it was like having a private secretary. They were so great they helped to make the weekend a brilliant break. Nothing was too much trouble, and I know I was quite a demanding guest as it was a special occasion, time was short and we wanted to pack a lot in to our trip. The hotel itself is very well located, central but quiet. We didn't get chance to eat in the restaurant but were told by locals the food is "magnificent". The decor is a bit tired in places, it's not a slick modern hotel but it has a charm that grows on you. Nice bar and a much appreciated happy hour! If I returned to Reykjavik I'd certainly return to Holt.
