Very good hotelPosted Oct 18, 2014
Pros: Breakfast. Room.
Cons: Bar, not very cosy.
Location: Quite far out of town. Not too many good eating places nearby.
Warm, clean, good amenities. Staff were first class and very helpful. On a bus route into Central Reykjavik.

Great Hotel 15 mins from the centre of the CaptialPosted Oct 9, 2014
Pros: Almost everything.
Location: Iceland is amaxing, even if you don't get to see the Northern Lights there is so much to do - it's an incredibly beautiful country.
The hotel staff make this place great, helpful, cheerful and friendly throughout. Despite the rooms being a little sparse/dated they are clean, spacious and comfortable. For the money this place is fantastic, I've paid more for less before. The bar/eating area is great and in character for the country, as is the games room.

Homely house before starting a journeyPosted Oct 8, 2014
Pros: Away from the busy lights of Reykjavik but also reasonably close to major travel routes.
Cons: Inclusion of a restaurant perhaps - may have been one but we weren't aware of it.
Location: Situated close to the Ring Road and a nice place to commence a journey into the countryside from.
Hotel Laxnes is located outside Reykjavik and is the ideal stop-over before an epic journey (eastwards around the Ring Road) into the countryside of Iceland. It is very quiet, and one needs to visit food locations in the nearby strip-malls for meals other than breakfast, but there is a charm in the solitude. Sean, working at the front-desk, was particularly helpful in giving us tips for the day

Lovely mountain view hotelPosted Oct 5, 2014
Stayed 6 nights at this hotel and it's fantastic. Views are lovely... Waking up to mountains every morning, what could be better? Should you have no plans or is bored there's a bar, pool table that is free for guests and a hot up (allow an hour before use) Room- I must admit the cleanest hotel room I have ever been in... spotless! Big room with a sofa/ desk and two chairs/ nice size batheoom and a very useful little kitchenette area with cutlery etc. Breakfast- basic but lovely (it was more than great for myself and husband but heard other people call it a little basic) We had lush waffles every morning, there is a selection of cereals/ continental breakfast/ jam and toast etc so it's a nice variation. Coffee was lovely too, there also tea and juice I believe although the coffee was more than enough for us every morning. Location- 30 seconds walk from bus stops and a minute walk from two supermarkets/ fast food restaurants. Lovely views and nice walks around. Sevice- as good as you expect it, special thanks to Nunu who was alway delightful and wonderful in her service. Overall- highly recommended.

Great experiencePosted Sep 23, 2014
Had a wonderful stay in Iceland in September (18th -22nd). I stayed at hotel Laxnes on a recommendation. I wasn't dissapointed. Really great staff, very helpful. Any tours or transport to the Reykjavik would be arranged by Shaun the hotel manager with out a hiccup. Breakfast buffet wasn't to bad especially as it was included in the price. It's a great place for couples who want to explore Iceland. Getting to the town centre takes about 20 minutes on a shuttle bus. I did the whale watching tour, northern lights your, golden circle tour (excellent and informative day) and finally the blue lagoon (very relaxing day). There is a sports bar 2 minutes from the hotel if you fancy a later drink. Also a nice restaurant only 12 minutes walk away.

For the second time, impressedPosted Sep 18, 2014
Pros: proximity to RR One, and its location outside more built up areas.
Cons: all in all, we had the studio rooms upstairs, lots of space, friends had same room but had to push together singles so maybe a few more king beds
Location: Pingvellir Geysir, Glymur and the south coast
stayed at the Laxnes Sept 1,2 and Sept 8,9th. Had stayed here in 2011 as well. room was clean, staff were helpful and polite. Breakfast was good. Laxnes is the perfect location to base yourself to do Gullfoss and area, as well as work your way to the south coast. easy access to RR One and easy to find off the highway. will be staying here when I come back in 2017 for sure.

Good base for travelling around.Posted Sep 2, 2014
Pros: Location....not in city, on main routes.
Cons: Bar stocking could be better.
Location: Used as base for full days out.
Arrived early in the morning at the Airport, spent the whole day travelling about, arrived at Hotel Laxnes about 9:00pm. Glad they had the facility to book in as late as midnight. Found the bar to be very understocked with soft drinks (no lemonade, no fruit juices, etc). Only used the bar on the first night. Bought own and drank in room. Having said that, we were only staying here as a base, not for the facilities.

Well suited placePosted Aug 26, 2014
Easy access to Pengvillier and the capital city. The breakfast was very basic. If you're fast food fan, KFC and Dominos are just opposite the hotel. Stick to the local food, you won't be disappointed.

Hotel Laxnes, MosfellsbærPosted Aug 9, 2014
Pros: Enjoyed quiet, homely environment, nice breakfast, free pool table & jacuzzi hot tub, location and view. Position good for heading inland for sights.
Cons: Hire car 4x4 provided by hotel was a little older than in the website picture - but was perfectly serviceable and did the job for us.
Location: 10 minute walk to Álafoss wool shop, artists workshops and bistro (nice food), playground & waterfall. Nearby supermarket for provisioning day trips.
Picturesque hotel in a nice quiet location in Mosfellsbær, 15 mins out of Reykjavík (easy public bus link from Hlemmur). Hotel manager was extremely helpful before we arrived, setting up tours, connections and hire of car. Comfortable rooms. Great buffet breakfast to start off the day. We achieved a lot during the few days we were in Iceland thanks to the kind assistance of the hotel staff. Separate company Grayline handled our airport transfer smoothly to Laxnes from airport and return (1hr) - hotel is clearly well connected and networked with all the tour companies.
