Great hotel only a short walk from heart of city

Posted Dec 15, 2014
Fantastic stay at this hotel, the staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing too much for them. Rooms were cosy and spotless and bed very very comfy, we had a small patio where we had fun building a snowman. Excellent location, 5 mins walk from restaurants and shops. Would definitely stay here again without hesitation. Excellent trip.

Nice convenient place to stay

Posted Nov 17, 2014
Location: This was actually a perfect location: close enough to downtown, while far enough to not be bothered by the late weekend nightlife.
We arrived early, about 10 am and check in time isn't until 2pm. The girl at the front desk was great about letting us change and store our bags. The rooms were comfortable, but the beds were fantastic, with a down comforter and coverlet as well as a fluffy mattress pad. I don't think I have ever slept so well in a hotel bed. They have a great hotpot to heat your coffee and nice large bath towels. The staff was always extremely helpful and courteous. They suggested a smaller Northern lights tour group and we saw the lights when the other groups did not. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Very disappointed in their refund policy

Posted Nov 5, 2014
My husband and I planned to stay at Hotel Odinsve to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Unfortunately one week before our trip, we had to cancel due to a death in our family so we could attend the wake & funeral overseas instead. We contacted all of our tour vendors, airlines etc immediately and everyone issued a full or partial refund EXCEPT for the Hotel Odinsve. I asked about postponing our trip / rebooking for a later date, or even getting a partial refund or paying just the first night (of 5) as a penalty, and there was no leniency in their refund policy. I'm disappointed as we wouldn't have canceled had it not been absolutely necessary. We are still planning on visiting Iceland but based on the Hotel Odinsve's indifference to a very difficult situation for our family, we will not be staying there. They could have had our future business when we returned and our future recommendation to friends by showing even the smallest compassion with a partial refund of some kind, but instead they choose to take our prepaid booking. That was very poor form and short-sighted, and I'm disappointed to say the least.

Great location - proximity to town center perfect!

Access to shopping, dining and attractions in general all within walking distance. Friendly staff and clean room - even an unexpected "upgrade" thrown in, made our stay a success.

Nice enough

Posted Oct 20, 2014
Pros: The breakfast was had lots of healthy choices.
Cons: The hallways and the front desk need to be upgraded. Its tacky to have old things laying about.
Location: It is in the center of things. There is a great coffee shop across the street. And the beautiful church is close by.
It was not an easy place to find. Luckily I had GPS in my rental car or I would not have found it. While the hallways are dingy, I even found old refrigerators and miscellaneous items, the room was clean. I also appreciated the towel warming rack. However, the shower was tiny and the room small.

Right next to the main shopping area

Posted Oct 3, 2014
Reasonably priced, large, modern room very close to the main shopping and tourist area. It's also nestled in a residential area, which was a plus for us, as we didn't want to be next to the clubbing/nightlife area. But if those are for you, luckily all the bars are only about three blocks away so you can get the best of both worlds. Our hotel was under construction, which was kind of annoying as the workmen started working around 7:30 or so and our room had a view of the dirty roof and construction site. The bathroom was huge and had a tub, a rare occurrence in our experience of Iceland. We ate dinner at Snaps right below the hotel. It's an absolutely adorable French-inspired restaurant with very reasonably priced (for Iceland) good food.

A very nice room with a couple of deficiencies

Posted Sep 22, 2014
Pros: Excellent location, very helpful staff who spoke excellent English.
Cons: Better TV.
Location: Lots of stores and restaurants within a few blocks.
First of all, the hotel has an excellent location, right near the heart of the city. Very convenient to walk everywhere, many restaurants and stores are close by. There is a restaurant right next door that is very popular with the locals. The room itself was small, but had everything, plenty of storage space and the bathroom was good-sized. Plenty of hot water, the shower was fine, they supplied shampoo and conditioner. The heat worked out well. There is an elevator which was very nice because this is a multi-storied facility. There as an old-fashioned television and the remote did not work, but that is a minor quibble. The staff was very helpful and gave me a city map which was extremely helpful. I would stay in the hotel again the next time I go to Reykjavik.
