Wonderful hotelPosted Sep 8, 2014
Hotel Odinsve is in a great location in a beautiful and fun part of Reykjavik. Their rooms/bathrooms are clean, charming and very comfortable. There is also an excellent restaurant in the hotel. During our visit my husband became seriously ill. The hotel staff was incredibly kind and helpful. They literally helped to save his life and they provided me with emotional and logistical support during the week I stayed there. They were truly incredible and I cannot say enough good things about them. I strongly recommend this wonderful hotel.

The hotel is located in an excellent positionPosted Aug 31, 2014
Pros: Location and helpful staff
Cons: Our room was slightly cramped however we did have a lot of luggage which filled up the spare space
Location: Restaurants and bars and not far from the harbour
The hotel is located in an excellent position close to the centre of Reykjavik. It has an outstanding restaurant which is very popular and you are advised to book early to reserve a table. The staff are extremely helpful and its a great place to stay.

Top notchPosted Aug 28, 2014
Pros: see above
Cons: see above
Location: We rented a car which turned out to be a good move. Travel south for some spectacular waterfalls and stunning scenery. Handy to the thermal area.
Hotel in a nice part of Reykjavik, near the harbour and landmark church. Breakfast generous but don't arrive late. Staff courteous and obliging. Had a room on the top floor with a reasonably nice outlook. Only negative was the room was close to the outlet vent from the kitchen and the smell of fried potatoes was very noticeable at mealtimes. Room a bit on the small side but adequate. Would definitely re-book here in future. If you want a reasonably-priced hotel with good in-house dining (Snaps restaurant) go here.

Cons: proper room for the price
Location: restaurants and sights
Hotel Odinsve - Reykjavik, Iceland Based on recommendations from Trip Advisor, I chose this hotel (pre-paid) for several nights in Reykjavik. The experience was very poor, disappointing to say the least, and vastly over-priced. We first stayed in room 308 for several nights. The carpet was dirty, one small towel rack in the bathroom so we could not hang towels, broken light fixture, floor in terrible condition. The shabbiness of the room made us wonder what else was wrong. Outside in the hall, we had to navigate around old furniture, blocking a balcony. An ancient barely working blurry TV in the room. After an over-night flight, we were told the room was ready for use around noon, but since check-in was officially 2PM we had to pay a sur-charge to check in at noon even though the room was ready. During decades of considerable travel we had never encountered this. After several days in Akureyri we returned for one night to the hotel and had room 404. Much better, although the price was still high compared to what one should expect for this price. When we prepared to sleep we noticed there were no sheets on the bed, only a mattress cover. The staff was very helpful, making the best of a bad situation, and they are to be singled out for the one positive statement we can make about our stay in this hotel. Do not recommend

Great LocationPosted Aug 9, 2014
Pros: Location, staff, view, beds and the attached restaurant.
Location: Just a 5 minute walk from amazing sights, great food and Laugavegur shopping
The hotel staff kindly stored our bags prior to check-in, and were extremely helpful and pleasant throughout our stay. The beds were very comfortable and our room was a wonderful view from our shared balcony. The location cannot be beat and the attached restaurant, SNAP is excellent - in both price and quality.

Nice HotelPosted Jul 22, 2014
Pros: Clean and friendly. Service was excellent.
Cons: The beds are a bit hard and the pillows were not comfortable.
Location: The hotel is a few blocks from the action and everything is walking distance that you might want to do.
The hotel is a few blocks from the action and you can walk to most anything from here. The staff were very attentive and the facility if very clean. The bed was a bit uncomfortable but after staying in 6 different hotels in Iceland it was as good as any other. The pillows are not great. I would stay here again - it was nice to be a bit out of the downtown so it was a little quieter at night.

Noisy at nightPosted Jul 4, 2014
Pros: Staff was very friendly & accommodating. Delayed luggage on the flight, so they provided robes and toiletries to get us through.
Cons: 2nd visit to hotel was in a room facing the street. Bathroom was small. No mirror except for bathroom making it hard for 2 to get ready.
Our first visit to Hotel found all rooms booked so they placed us in one of their apartment rooms in town. Every night partiers on the street began around 11 p.m., not finishing until the wee hours of the morning. Even with windows closed I could hear and feel the bass of the local bands at the bars. Not good for trying to get some rest. Two of the mornings had street sweepers begin at 5:30 a.m., or garbage trucks at the same time. Apartment close, walking distance to most sites in the city. Did not provide blackout curtains, which are necessary in summer of 24 hour daylight.
