Good, inexpensive, centrally-located place to stayPosted May 22, 2013
Konrad and his staff were helpful in introducing us to the wonders of Reykjavik. Great stay overall.

Konrad's guesthousePosted Sep 4, 2012 on Hotels.com
My wife and I stayed at Konrad's guest house for two nights during our stay in Reykjavik. The appartment itself was in great shape and after having stayed at a conventional hotel for 5 days staying at Konrad's place was just like crashing at a good friend's appartment with the exception of the fact that Konrad was pretty much never to be seen. The location was great, the price was unbeatable, and if/when I go back to Reykjavik I know that my first choice will be Konrad's.

In two mindsPosted Jun 22, 2012 on Hotels.com
Iceland has long fascinted me, both because of the Sagas, the democratic tradition, and the natural beauty. Unfortunately, Reykjavik itself has little of any of these on display: it's an often rundown city of little inherent interest. Much the same could be said of this "guesthouse", which is in fact the tiny spare bedroom in a small flat whose taciturn owner sleeps in the other bedroom. Although the kitchen/dining room area is quite adequate, the discovery that this is in fact a private home puts a crimp on one's capacity to use it, despite the rather high nightly fee. The musty odor pervading the place, the bathroom in particular, was a further disencitive. That being said, the memories of our stay there are by no means all negative. We're still trying to figure out why.:)

Really SpectacularPosted Apr 28, 2012 on Hotels.com
Staying here set the tone of my entire 6 week trip to Iceland in a very personal way. Hokan is a tremendous host, always there with great conversation, nightlife suggestions, and a cup of rich coffee. The location, right in the heart of town, a mere 2 blocks from Laugavegur and the main square, is ideal. Konrad's Guesthouse makes for a wonderful home base to plan a day trip or just relax. Facilities include a living room, a modern styled kitchen, bathroom, and a cozy bedroom that can be outfitted with 1 or 2 beds. A rare and unique experience, book it!

Owner got too drunk to serve breakfastPosted Sep 30, 2011
This B&B is situated in a small house in city center. Visitors share all space with the owner; no 'private space' except for your small bedroom. This would not have bothered me (since the price is reasonable) if I would have gotten the feeling that the owner is up to running a B&B. In our case, he got too drunk (the night before we left) to serve us breakfast. We tried to wake him up, but that did not work. We left our details, but no 'sorry-email' so far. Does the B&B owner take this seriously, or is he just in it for the money?
