Charming boutique hotel

Posted Jul 23, 2015
Location: Easy walking distance to the harbor, downtown
Friendly staff met us at 1:30 am arrival and were helpful throughout stay. They delivered a wicker basket of breakfast goodies and a bag of fresh bread that we also used for lunches, delicious ! Room was large and included a full kitchen and huge soaker tub. Don't be afraid to drink or use the hot water with a sulfur smell. Hotel is in a quiet neighborhood but still close to harbor and downtown.

GREAT room after 10 days roaming around Iceland!

Posted Jul 15, 2015
Pros: Location, location, location! And the beds :)
We spent about 10 days driving the Ring Road and stayed at hotels along the way, mostly in fishing villages and off the beaten path. Needless to say, by the time we made it back to Reykjavik, we were road weary and exhausted! When we checked in, the woman was very friendly, asked about our trip and was pleased to hear that we had stopped in Styykisholmur because that's where she is from :) We ended up upgrading to a suite and we were very glad that we did. It had a HUGE bath tub and soaking in it with a glass of wine (from the bottle on the table), was exactly what I needed. The beds were the best beds we had in Iceland and we slept like the dead!! The next morning, we walked the 1 block to the main shopping street in Reykjavik and got some breakfast and coffee, wondered around and took in the sites before we jumped back on the plane to the states. Everything you need is within easy walking distance and the Residence Inn was the break we needed before our departure.

More like a B-and-B than a hotel

Posted Jul 12, 2015
Pros: The amount of space in our suite and the breakfast selections.
Cons: Add another bathroom to the larger suites.
Location: Near to the restaurant/bar/shopping streets. Only a couple blocks to the water, and maybe 1 km to the iconic church. About 1 km to the bus station.
We had a good two night stay at this hotel. There were 7 of us; we had one of the three bedroom suites. It was decent, but not wonderful. Be aware, if you also have a big group in these suites: there is only one bathroom. For us, this was a problem. There was plenty of room for them to at least have had an additional half bath. Also, since we had seven people, one of our group used the pull-out couch. This couch was rock hard and very uncomfortable for him. The neighborhood is slightly sketchy, not terrible. You are close to the restaurant and bar area, which is good for getting dinner but bad for late night noise when people leave the bars. The included breakfast was very nice. It is not the usual B-and-B breakfast room meal, however. They deliver a large selection of cold food to your room/suite the afternoon before. It includes sandwich bread, cheeses, cold cuts, yogurt or skyr, jams, butter, hard-boiled eggs, tea, a vegetable, and a fruit. The selection varies from day to day. Then they deliver fresh loaf bread first thing in the morning (delicious!). There is also cereal and milk and OJ and coffee in the room. There acutally is plenty of food for both breakfast and lunch, to take on tours with you if you want. We had a full kitchen in our suite so we could make toast and coffee, etc. Not sure what the regular doubles have for cooking, if anything.

Nice place

Posted Jul 9, 2015
Pros: Smelled like laundry
Location: Very close to the main street but far enough away from the noise of night life.
After a guided trip around the whole island and staying in guesthouses during the nights, my husband and I decided to stay here for the remainder of our honeymoon. It was an excellent choice. The room was quite and clean. We appreciated the free milk, juice and cereal and coffee provided in the room. And the cleaning staff cleaned our dishes! The bed was extremely comfortable. However a few improvements could be made to make it more comforting. We couldn't find a heater in the room, so had to turn the one on in the bathroom on high to heat up the whole room. When showering the water would go all over the floor because the curtain wasn't the appropriate size. I also felt very cramped when showering. On the other hand, they provided good shampoo and such. The lighting was a bit of a problem. We are tall and bumped our heads on the lamps a few times because they stick out of the wall. Overall though we had a great experience. Staff was friendly and helpful. Would stay here again.

Great boutique hotel

Posted Jul 1, 2015
Pros: location, cleanliness, staff, comfort
Cons: a box of tissues and a shelf in the bathroom for cosmetics
Location: one block off the main shopping street. Close to everything.
Everything was wonderful at this hotel. the small kitchen was stocked with milk, juice, cereal, coffee and tea all for our use. We like to eat breakfast in our room and this was just perfect for us. The room, which faced the street, was amazingly quiet and very comfortable for sleeping. It was even dark enough to sleep peacefully in a 23 hour long day. The staff was always willing and able to answer any questions and help us with any difficulties we might have had. I highly recommend this hotel.

Nice room and location

Posted Jun 25, 2015
Room is more like an apartment but with daily service. As described, breakfast is a tray of perishables placed in your european sized refrigerator at room cleaning and then a bag of awesome bread from Bakarí Sandholt (which our Reykjavik friend told us was famous) hung over your doorknob in the morning so you can sleep late!!! Lots of nice bars and restaurants nearby Street is quiet though and our room/suite had the bedroom in the back facing a pocket park on the side. We rented a parking spot from the desk in the garage across the street for 20 euros/day When you drive from Snorrabraut down Hverfisgata you'll encounter their similar appearing sister hotel first. Reykjavik residence hotel has an exterior ramp. If you are dragging your luggage up exterior stairs you are in the wrong place
