City Center Hotel

"Great staff and location"
This was the second time I stayed at this hotel and enjoyed it just as much as the first. Helpful staff and great location. Yes, noise can be an issue if you are in the front of the hotel as the city is hoping from 1:30 to 5:30 on Friday and Saturday nights. The rest of the time you won't hear a peep. If you must have quiet arrive on Sunday morning and try and miss Friday and Saturday nights. Enjoy!

"Very nice hotel near to the city center"
Well organized hotel, very friendly staff and excellent breakfast. We had a clean, quiet room with very nice view over the city; we got tips on tours, tips on dinners and other activities, we have been served with early breakfast (at 4am!) and got pickup service when ever we needed. We have absolutely nothing to complain. Eliska & Laura (mother and daughter) from The Netherlands.

"Clean, comfortable Hotel with friendly staff"
This is the second time that I have stayed at this Hotel and I will stay there again the next time that I visit Iceland. It is a really smart, modern Hotel with a nice bar and restaurant. It is about 15 mins walk from the town centre but the Hotel gives you a plastic card which entitles you to free travel on the bus which travels to the Town Centre and back twice per hour from early to late. The Hotel toiletries are the same ones that they use in their spa and they smell and feel really nice. The Hotel staff are great and nothing is too much trouble for them. I would highly recommend this Hotel.

"Trendy apartment in centre of Reyjavik"
Excellent 3 night stay at the OK Hotel, right in the centre of Reyjavik. Comfy, clean, spacious apartment worked well for 3 of us, with good restaurants nearby, including a Korean one beneath. If you want to be right in the heart of the city in a trendy apartment this is a great place to stay!

"A Very Nice Apartment"
The apartment was very comfortable and nice. Walking distance (about 15 min max) to all the main sights. This was the first time we have stayed in an apartment versus a hotel and there are some pros and cons. I missed having hotel staff to help with information and directions. Also, because our flight arrived late it meant we had to contact the owner when we landed (via email, since I didn't have an international cellular plan) and then had to wait about 10 min outside before someone came to let us in. Having the space of a 1 bedroom apartment with a kitchen/dining/living room was nice. Having to take out our own trash in the end was a little inconvenient--and again just a small luxury you don't need to do when you stay in a hotel. The amenties were all nice. Though we didn't use it having laundry in the unit was a nice benefit. Our only complaints were these two things: 1) There was a window in the shower without blinds that limited upper body privacy (for females), though once the steam built up in the window it was less of a concern. 2) Though we turned all the heaters off, the apartment stayed pretty hot. Fortunately it was cool outside and opening the windows helped. we kept wondering though if there was still heat on somewhere, or if we couldn't fully turn it off. Further, a phone in the apartment (maybe only for local numbers?) would have been nice, especially since there is no staff on site to answer questions.

Hotel Holt

Bergstadastraeti 37, Reykjavik - Map
"Modern hotel in downtown Reykjavik"
Hotel Holt continues to be a reliable choice of accommodations in downtown Reykjavik. Close to the main tourist areas (the church, the museums, the Harbor), it is also pleasantly nestled back a few streets from the main street (Laugavegur) so it quiet and calm. Included in the price is a pleasing breakfast of cheeses, meats, pastries and coffee. The free wifi is also great. It makes an excellent base for going out in Reykjavik and is also well connected with tour operators, if you are looking to get out of town to see one of the many nearby sites (Golden Circle, whale watching, etc.). It is not a trendy boutique or extraordinarily fancy hotel but it holds its own and is a great value.

"Reykjavik Residence Appartments"
Really nice apartments just a few minutes stroll from the city centre and the main shopping streets. Despite only booking a studio apartment we were pleasantly surprised by its size and layout. It comprised a large double bed in the sleeping area, ample storage and bathroom. The kitchenette was well provided, with a double halogen hotplate, microwave, fridge, toaster, kettle and filter coffee maker. We had opted for the room + breakfast option. Breakfast was excellent - a basket of provisions placed in the fridge every afternoon, with milk, orange juice, assorted cheeses, cold meats, jams and butter and skir or yoghurt. A bag of fresh bread was hung on your door handle every morning at 7am! There was more than sufficient food to make packed-lunches if you were out on day trips (worthwhile, as some trips such as Golden Circle don't allow a lot of time at some of the en-route cafes, which can be very busy if lots of coaches arrive at the same time - so take lunch with you and enjoy the scenery instead of queuing for lunch!). Oh - and free secure WiFi is provided, and TV. The staff at the apartments were very friendly and helpful, and always had time to ask if we were OK, needed anything or if we had had a good day. Al in all this was a wonderful introduction to Reykjavik and to Iceland and its people.
