Recommended: Quite enjoyed our stay. The hotel staff were very friendly and the buffet breakfast was very good. We booked a tour with the hotel with no problems. The room was super clean and our only issue was with the design of the "European" shower which sprayed water everywhere if you were not careful. Recommended: Room was small but clean. Centrally located near tourist area. Staff was a huge help when I needed to communicate with staff at the airport after I arrived in Reykjavik - but my suitcase did not - and recommended a store where I was able to replace essentials even late on a Sunday night. Recommended: The hotel is located in the centre of the town close to the walking street. It is also conviniently serviced by all the tour operators. most of the attractions, including the waterfront is withing the walking distance. Also there are several good restuarants and fast food joints as well as a 24 hour grocery store within minutes from the hotel. See all reviews for this hotel

Recommended: The hotel was clean, well heated, but the beds are poor. You can feel the springs poking through the matress! The hotel staff placed a down pad on my matress which seemed to correct the problem. Staff is friendly and try their best to be helpful, but are not knowledgeable in regard to the area (ie public phones, correct time the bank opens...). Recommended: This hotel was absolutely perfect. The location was fantastic, A charming boutique hotel with a very modern but not cold feel. The staff there was incredibly friendly & helped us pick some amazing restaurants & tours to take. Honestly, after looking at all the other hotels in the area, I wouldn't recommend any other place than Thingholt. It was everything you could ask for. And honestly, the breakfast was by far one of THE best breakfasts that I've had in a hotel. Also the pricing of this place is beyond a steal for the location, service, breakfast & overall experience. Recommended: This hotel is perfectly located within a couple of blocks of EXACTLY where you want to be to eat, shop, party, whatever in Reykjavik. And that couple of blocks gives a nice buffer when it comes to avoiding the party animals and noise when it's bedtime. Our room had a beautiful view across the bay to the mountains -- but suffered a little noise from nearby highway. Foam earplugs were enough to block out any disturbance, though, and the sparkling cleanliness of the hotel at such a reasonable price compared to others I'd searched was fantastic. The morning breakfast up on the top floor restaurant was marginal, but the view incredible. I managed to get free parking on two nights with my rental car. And staff was great about dealing with issues. (My TV didn't work in my first room, and they immediately switched me to an even-better room!) Would definitely stay here again!! Recommended: other than the small bathroom with the tiny shower (no opportunity to shave your legs) and the monotony of the continental breakfast this was a fantastic hotel with superb staff - especially the ladies on the front desk - in a great location attached to a fabulous restaurant. i hope to stay there on my next trip to Iceland. i would highly recommend the special lobster menu if it's still available - just remind yourself that food eaten in Iceland contains no calories or cholesterol.
