Smart hotel in good location

We stayed for one night - a Saturday in September. It seemed there were several weddings being celebrated in the hotel but we were greeted warmly by the reception staff. Our room was designated 'superior' but we found it small although both it and the bathroom were comfortably and smartly appointed and of the standard we have come to expect from Steigenberger. We asked whether dinner in the hotel was going to be a problem given the weddings and the receptionists agreed that the dining room would not be free until after 8pm due to this and a 'party'. The 'party' turned out to be what must have been at least 200 Japanese girls! We were recommended a local restaurant and had an excellent dinner. Sadly we didn't get to try any of the food at the hotel as the queue for breakfast was incredibly long so we decided to set off early on our journey the next morning. The hotel is very well situated close to the wonderful water tower and fountains and from there the shops are a short walk. The staff were very friendly and helpful and another plus was that the car park could be accessed from inside the hotel. I would stay here again but book a higher standard room than 'superior'.

Never disappointed

Stayed at this hotel again and glad I did. I stayed in a newer room this time that connected to an older room. It was a great room the new room just not with a practical bathroom. There was no way to not get water everywhere and it seems as though they knew it was going to happen because they put a drain in the floor. Other then the ultra hip but not practical bathroom the hotel is probably the best Mannheim has to offer regardless of price point.

Amazing

This was a great hotel, the pictures don't actually do it justice. We had a great corner room with a view of downtown Mannheim and everyone was very courteous and helpful. The bartender even went so far to get my American self some ice on a very hot day. I am so impressed with it I will be staying there again at the end of the week.

Excellent restaurant & service, but mold in bath

The restaurant and service were excellent, but the room was under the roof. The bathroom was a big problem. It was not possible to wash your hands without bumping your head and the mirror was so low that I could not use it. The soap dispenser in the shower was broken and instead there was just an opened half-used, repulsive plastic bottle of soap. Worse yet the entire bath stunk of mold and it was hard to breath. A person with a mold allergy would have had great difficulties. Opening the window wasn’t a good option as the room faced the courtyard which is used by the restaurant and was quite noisy. I complained about the bath and got a free breakfast which of course didn’t solve the problem for the second night of my stay.

Great Business Hotel

Pros: Upgraded my room to a suite without me even asking
Cons: Wireless in the hotel is appalling slow for a business-centric hotel
Fantastic. Very modern, clean and super facility for a business stay. Staff are uber friendly.

One of the better hotels in Mannheim

A decent hotel, with the deluxe roems being newly renovated. Nice breakfast, beautiful common areas. The fitness area needs some work as does the WIFI (which is not free).

Location: excellent
Very smart business oriented hotel, comfortable and a good price for a non-business stay at a weekend. Excellent location just off the most attractive square in Mannheim, but a convenient 5 minutes from the station.

Lacked Air Conditining

I booked this hotel as it was advertised to have climate controlled rooms. I booked with Expedia on a no refund rate. After checking in I found out the room air conditioning was not working. They provided a fan and offered no compensation. When i asked to speak to a manager, housekeeping was sent and said there was nothing that could be done.
