My wife and I travel a lot (usually spending up to 3 months away per year), so we've seen one or two hotels in our time (up to and including 5 star). Klosterhoff Eckelsheim was one of the most enjoyable and relaxing places we have stayed in a long time. It is located in a small and pleasant village with Weingut galore (Wineries) and a half decent restaurant down the street. We were working in Bingen and it was only through lack of finding anything else we stayed this far away. We now wouldn't stay anywhere else if we have to return to Bingen again. The accommodation is great if you have kids, as the living room can be converted to two beds. There is also plenty of room in the two roomed suite we stayed in. It is by no means a five star hotel, but I'd take a place like this over a soul-less corporate run plastic hotel as so many 5 stars are. The hosts were very hospitable and friendly, and their beautiful heritage property has been 'greenified' by them. If this is up your street (as it is ours) it is very interesting to talk to them about the restoration of the property and the actions they have taken to reduce the impact of their business on the environment. Our recommendation is to book in and enjoy a wine or beer in their courtyard, you'll be unlikely to want to stay anywhere else!

Hotel staff are friendly, professional, and eager to help. The rooms are modern, comfortable, clean, and well taken care of. Room interiors and furnishings are the equivalent of a Hilton or Hyatt and are kept in impeccable shape. If this is your first trip to Europe (as it was mine, with all of its worrisome details) book your room and forget about that aspect of your trip. You won't be disappointed and you'll be looking forward to your next visit. Thanks much to Christa and Michael, you made my first experience with Germany unforgettable with your excellent, hotel, hospitality, and kindness.

Hotel am Wartturm (meaning near the guard tower) was the best hotel experience I can ever remember. The innkeeper, Christian, is outstanding all around. The hotel is spotlessly clean inside and out, in a quiet location not too far from the center of Speyer. The bed was so comfortable that we asked where we could buy a mattress of such high quality.
Christian gave us many great ideas for things to do and see. Anyone who rates this hotel less than a 5+ shouldn't be allowed to travel. All of the staff were friendly, courteous and very helpful, and breakfast was excellent. Speyer is the city of my ancestors.

Nice location with beer garden and very pleasant surroundings just a little out of town. I was in the annex building a little walk away with its own carpark. Breakfast and meals are taken in the main building but only a 3 minute walk away. Breakfast is adequate and restaurant has good menu choices. Rooms are perhaps a little "tired" but clean with coffee making and free internet connection with good strong signal.
