Quite unusual, but very pleasant hotel

Posted Sep 4, 2014
Pros: Interesting styling, nice pool, very good restaurants on site
Cons: Breakfast
Location: Close to the park/zoo, but a pain to walk anywhere - need to drive
They've actually done quite a good job of making this seem old when it's really not (in a good way) - was expecting it to be a bit Disney, but in the communal areas there were antique chairs and paintings (and a stuffed bear...) as well as the smell of woodsmoke in the main room. Bedrooms have nice furniture and very comfortable beds. Breakfast wasn't amazing - it was fine, but as others have said it was mainly 2 choices of cereal or a few pastries (very few by 8am) then a fridge of yoghurt drinks, milk and juice with coffee (just a flask of hot water for tea, which isn't really ok for making tea, but it is an American hotel so didn't really expect better!).

Location: Forest Park for scenic beauty and The Hill for excellent dining
A great way to experience England right in the middle of America. Always our destination when we visit St. Louis.

Nice and cozy

Great location and close to Wash U. Clean and comfortable but one minus is the eating area for breakfast is very small. Limitted seating and Not enough staff to service breakfast and the food is not replenished quickly. Waited 20 minutes for coffee refill. Otherwise the hotel is great.

Pros: The old English motif. The free breakfast was extensive and had a very good variety.
Cons: Having a fridge in the room.
Location: It is near the park and zoo. There is an excellent restaurant across the courtyard.
The staff were very friendly and went out of there way to be helpful. The room was spacious and well-taken care of. The theme of the hotel is old England. We stayed in the Lewis Carroll room which had a copy of "Alice in Wonderland" for your reading pleasure. We had a very enjoyable stay.

Close to Forest Park and Wash. U.

The Cheshire is a charming hotel with a literary theme, where each room is named after a famous author. In a world of sound bites and tweets, I found this refreshing. The bar was a cozy place to sit and chat with friends, and the restaurant was very good. The area is very nice with lots of people out and about. Forest Park is a great place, with its winding roads and paths, the art museum, and the zoo.

Best hotel stay ever! Definitely will return!!!

This was an incredible stay and had exceeded my already high expectations. Friendliest hotel staff. Justin was working during the majority of our stay and went out of his way to make our trip the most pleasant. The music on Saturday night was great! I have never seen such excellent service and quality. I would recommend taking advantage of the free bike rental and the park! We did this first and it started our trip off well! I would stay here again in a heartbeat!
