“Great !!!”
The hotel was in the perfect location and was very clean!!! Great establishment!!
“Nice Hotel, Nice Staff”
Candlewood was a nice hotel especially for a business traveller. Michael, the front desk attendant, was extremely helpful and pleasant. I really enjoyed the southern hospitality and charm of Glen Allen. Only negatives were the slow elevators and rough towels. But rough towels are a staple of practically any hotel.
“Luxury Room”
It was truly awesome especially just for a one night stay. I was looking for something relatively clean and got more than what I asked for. My only thing is that I was told we were getting a King size bed and instead it was a Queen. However it was a comfortable Queen so I'm not scoffing at that too much. My stay made me want to stay longer than I indicated just cause how accommodating and comfortable our room was.
“Cant wait to go back”
The hotel was acceptable with American Pit Bull Terriers and the staff showed their affection to my dogs as well. The hotel room was exceptionally well, room was a great temperature before entering. The only complaint I had was that the toliet back up in my room 2x. But, maintence came right up to fix the issue each time.
“Gross bathrooms”
Bathrooms need to be cleaned better. Stranger hair everywhere. Whole building smelled weird. Staff was very nice but I wont stay again
“Just know what you are getting”
Constant trips to front desk whenever anything is needed. Coffee is provided for 1st day only....1 pack. for any additionals days, you have to ask front desk for it. No Shampoo was provided without going to front desk. Also, people should realize that they don't clean the room except for once a week, which means for a normal trip during weekdays, the room is never cleaned.
“VERY DISAPPOINTING”
At first, everything seemed fine. Then, sleeping was almost impossible due to traffic noise. There were pubic hairs in the bathroom (on the floor, toilet and tub). The handle on the toilet was literally dangling. We had to take the top off the tank to flush it. The girl at the desk was no help. When we told her about everything, she had no answers and said she 'MIGHT' be able to get somebody to fix the toilet. THAT was an unacceptable response. We waited and waited for the manager to show up. He was supposed to call us in our room when he arrived, but never did. We finally went down to the desk to find him, and we, along with sevferal other guests, waited for over 15 minutes for anybody to show up. The manager finally showed up, and wasn't much more help. But he did get us another room. Also, when making our reservations, we were supposed to get a king bed, but only got a queen. In the second room where he moved us, there were 2 doubles.
“Not At ALl Happy With My Stay”
There were no steps in providing security for its clients. We arrived at 1:00 AM to find the front door unlocked and no one at the front desk. There was only one staff member available during the evening and midnight shift. This left the front desk untenanted for the majority of the time. Other doors were jarred or wedged open at different locations on the ground floor. The magnetic key had to be replaced four times in our stay of four nights. We selected this hotel because it is animal friendly but they do nothing about complaints about barking dogs. There was a pit bull in a dog pen outside about ten feet from our window. For two nights the dog barked all night long and our complaints were ignored. The room smiled of old musty smile and the curtains had stains in them. We were to have a queen size bed but it was a full size. My overall rating would be “Very Poor”. It was without a doubt the worst stay at a hotel I have ever had.
“Not a Great Place to Visit”
We were very disappointed in the hotel. Realizing that it only had two stars did not prepare us. Although our room at check-in was clean, additional cleaning is only done once a week so we never saw anyone cleaning even though we were there for 5 days. If trash pickup was desired, the trash bag needed to be set out in the hall. Guests needed to trade in used towels at the desk for fresh ones. We needed to ask for additional coffee for the coffee pot (it was not replaced each day) otherwise our choice was to drink instant or pay $1 for a pack of coffee. The floor of the elevator was dirty and the "wet paint" sign remained in the same place for 4 days. It made us wonder if anyone paid any attention to the hotel. Although we did not experience this, several people were overheard asking for their money back because of the cleanliness of their rooms. We go to Virginia each spring and stay for 5 days. We will NOT be making reservations there again!
