Convenient Location

Posted Aug 27, 2014
Pros: Convenient location and clean accomodations.
Cons: front desk service and attitudes. I found the staff to be using their smartphones and quite curt and put upon when asked questions
Location: historic area, civil war museums.
The hotel was conveniently located in Downtown Richmond and walking distance to where I having meetings. The shuttle drivers were excellent and the service very convenient. The front lobby staff was very disappointing. Very slow to check in, curt and generally unfriendly. The hotel was pleasing and comfortable and housekeeping was excellent. Overall, a good value but front desk staff could benefit from interpersonal training. They acted as if they were at a J-O-B and HAD to be there.

Reliable downtown stay

Posted Jul 18, 2014
Richmond somehow has a shortage of decent hotel rooms at times...this property is a good bargain usually with easy onsite self-park.

Convenient downtown hotel in need of update

Posted Jul 6, 2014
The location was very convenient. We were able to walk to camel walk, habana 59 restaurant, browns island for fireworks. Staff was very friendly, decent breakfast. The rooms were really old and really could use some update.

Very tired

Posted Jun 30, 2014
Had major issues with people next door to us. We were up from 2am to 4am becuse hotel security could not control them. Eventually they kicked them out. The hotel has an issue with the cable company. As we were watching TV it would go from loud snow then back to the show. The shampoo and conditioner wasn't even full bottles. They gave us used bottles. Since I booked through expedia they could not refund my room. I received 5000 IHG points, which dosnt even equal a free night at another IHG hotel.

Great location, but probably won't go back

Posted Jun 30, 2014
Staffing was really bad there. The only people that I found helpful and nice were the bellhops. That's it. Room service kept coming in the room unannounced. We had to deadbolt the door, and they still tried coming in the room three more times. It was really scary. Also they kept charging me these fees and didn't tell me until I had to sign for it. But like I said the location was perfect for walking around and grabbing some good food.

Convenient location for Richmond convention center

Posted Jun 25, 2014
Pros: Staff was agreeable and tried to be helpful even though it wasn't always possible.
Cons: Rooms could use some modernizing (better A/C units, coffee makers, refrigerators, etc.). Also, ice makers were broken on some floors.
Location: Downtown Richmond - 7 blocks from convention center - lots of restaurants within easy walking distance.
The staff was good - friendly and mostly helpful. But the first night our reservation was messed up - we had booked a room with a king bed and a sleeper sofa, since we had two women and two children (from two different families) - but when we arrived, all those rooms were full, so they put us in a room with one king bed. ONE bed for four people! No sofa at all, much less a sleeper. And no rollaway beds available. No upgrade available. But they gave us complimentary valet parking and full buffet breakfast as consolation, which was nice. Then they found a room with 2 double beds for us the next night, which was better, except moving and relocating to a different floor is a HUGE PAIN IN THE rear (and double beds are much smaller than king beds). Air conditioners in both rooms had to work very hard. Mini-refrigerators were cold but they leaked, & the doors stuck badly. But staff was always pleasant when we asked for extra towels, blankets, coffee, etc. Water pressure in the shower was GREAT - very strong and hot. Overall it was just "OK" hotel - nothing to write home about, but no serious problems either.
