My sister and I stayed as we were attending a show at the landmark and it was very close. The Bell Staff were great, very friendly and helpful. When we got to our room there was a strong odor. They sent maint. up and they removed an air freshner from the ac/heat unit but didn't seem to help. We let it go because we were too tired to request a room change. Room service was really good, just way over priced.

“Clean comfortable room”
We did not use any of the amenities, just checked in late, went to bed, got up, showered and left. The room was clean and comfortable. The shower was hot. No issues.

“Not hot, even in the hot tub”
Desk staff unfriendly, hotel noisy, and money disappeared from my room. (And the water in the hot tub was barely luke warm.) Would not recommend this pricey hotel.

“Not a bad place.”
Had to stay here since the Omni was booked. There were no stores close to the hotel and only one restaurant that was good. Went to the breakfast buffet in the hotel and it wasn't worth the cost. The hotel was close to canal walk which was nice. It was easy to park in the hotel parking garage. No wireless Internet in the rooms. There was plug in Internet but couldn't get it to work.

Carytown because there were shops and restaurants.

“Had a great stay”
Overall the Crown Plaza Richmond is great! Outstanding breakfast buffet and cocktail events for the Club members.
The only thing I would suggest is an upgrade to the computer system and speed up the Internet access or Wi-Fi access. I was not able to do work while staying at the hotel and had to rely on an outside source.

“Not to bad at all lol”
I enjoyed my stay there. The only issue I had was that room service was slow and they would forget half the stuff they were supposed to send with everything you got and then when you would mention hey you forgot the cream and sugar for the coffee it would take another 30 min to get it, so it was not worth using that service. But overall it was not bad. The food in the restaurant is not the greatest but there are some amazing restaurants surrounding this hotel:)

“14th Floor view is great.”
We booked on expedia and were surprised to find that our room was the priority (only one) on the 14th floor. I was attending a wedding and actually thought that one of my relatives may have upgraded my room, but was informed that I had booked a King size bed and that was what they had available. The view was wonderful. While the room was not overly large it was very comfortable and well appointed.
Area recommendations
The Fan area is probably a better fit for me and my wife. There are cobblestone streets, live jazz, and restaurants that really reminded us of New Orleans.

“Stay here but eat elsewhere”
The room was very nice and the bed extremely comfortable. I didn't feel like driving and don't think there's much within walking distance for good eats so had dinner (which wasn't too bad but not great) in the hotel. I prepaid for the buffet breakfast with my room and would recommend NOT doing this. The food on buffet is high fat, high sugary processed food. I opted for the made-to-order omelette which was awful...barely edible. Better to go with a-la-cart and try for real food.

“Richmond Graduation Crowne Plaza”
The Hotel was wonderful. We liked our rooms very much. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We woud surely stay there again.
