Great Location to VCU Parents

Posted Jul 9, 2014
Pros: The valet parking staff was super friendly and prompt. I really appreciated their service.
Cons: More plugs in the room. Need a desk lamp near./on the desk. It's too dark there.
Location: 2.5 blocks from VCU Brandt Hall.
I picked this hotel based on the proximity to the VCU Monroe campus. The bed was super comfortable and clean. The hotel is located in the quiet area so that I enjoyed a good-night sleep. However, the room had several problems. The sing stopper was completely broken. As a person who uses contact lenses, that was not acceptable. There are not enough electrical plugs in convenient locations in the room. It was not updated to modern tech standard for recharging your tech devices. There were not cups on the bathroom sink for teeth brushing; there were two glasses for drinking water on a tiny table by the window, but no cups in the bathroom. The downstairs coffee shop was serving Starbucks coffee, but it didn't taste like Starbucks at all. It had water-downed taste, unfortunately. Like any other city hotels, there is no free parking for guests.

Great service

Posted Jul 7, 2014
I spent my 4th I July weekend here. When we first arrived were greeted by friendly staff and warm cookies. I requested a room closer to the top and they fulfilled my request and put me on the 14th floor. The pool was on the rooftop and it was nice to be able to swim in the pool while watching te fireworks. The overall condition of the building is okay. The elevators are kind of dated but the lobby is very clean and updated. The room was okay as well. The room was clean and had a great view. The bathroom was extremely small. You could barely open the door without almost swiping the front of the toilet. Those were my only issues. Also make sure u get there so you can get a close parking spot to hotel unless you don't mind paying 20$ a day

Stay somewhere else...

I travel for business and I usually try to stay on a Hilton property...I will not be staying at this property again. The mandatory 20 dollar a day parking fee and homeless people using the computers in the business center to watch movies pretty much did it for me.

Pros: The hotel was very close to VCU where we had orientation.
The staff was very helpful. The shuttle took us to local attractions and also picked us up.

Great stay for the money!

The staff is excellent!!! You can not beat the price to stay! The breakfast buffet was also very delicious. Only bad thing is you have to pay $20 for valeting your car overnight because they do not have a parking lot on premises.

Helpful Staff Hallways were rather stuffy and hot. Room AC a bit noisy, but comfortable room and quiet.

perfect location for seeing the city

Posted Jun 10, 2014
Pros: The location of this hotel is the reason we stayed. It was central to all activities we wanted to do in the city. I would stay there again
Cons: Waiting for your car if you valet parked could be improved as it gets busy at the time of check-out. However valet service tried to accommodate all
Location: The best thing to do there is to visit the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Wonderful collection of Art Nouveau and beautiful outdoor sculpture garden
Excellent staff, they quickly helped us check in as we arrived late in the evening. The hotel is right in downtown so you can walk to some historic sites or it is a very short drive to the canal/warehouse district or the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. The room was very comfortable and the rooftop pool had a fantastic view of the city.
