It's a 3- no more, no less

Posted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: Location & comfy beds
Cons: The food offering and the inconsistencies with the room appearances- I saw 3 different rooms on 2 floors.
Location: 23 minutes to Kings Dominion. 15 minutes to downtown
Good Location, but not in walking distance to much. The Bfast buffet for $9.95 is the basic buffets that u would get at other 3-4 star hotels- make your own waffles, oatmeal, cold cereal, bagels, toast, biscuits, sausage, bacon, coffee, juice. We got it for free b/c we had to move our room, but I would not pay for it otherwise. The staff is polite and friendly- the beds were comfy and the linens smelled fresh. The bathroom needed updating, but it was OK for a weekend stay. 23 minute drive to Kings Dominion.

convenient location; however, not up to standard.

Pros: Bartenders know how to make a great Margarita!
Cons: Room/hotel cleanliness - musty smell prevalent. Staff more focused on guests rather than chatting with each other.
Location: near major roadways to get to key attractions & shopping. not much in walking distance.
Convenient location - near major roads but not the usual standard of this hotel chain - disappointing. Some hotel staff looked sloppy & unkempt - especially the front desk clerk on duty at check out. Clerk at check in was not familiar with system & could not look up my rewards number. Hallway & room smelled musty. Bathroom a major disappointment. Tub clearly overdue for replacement - chipped enamel poorly repaired, non-skid material stained & had a dirty appearance. Air conditioning unit very noisy. All pillows (8) were very soft, no medium/firm pillows on either of 2 beds. Restaurant OK; very disappointing that it closed early without notice, forcing us to go out after dark in unfamiliar area. Hotel seemed to cater to large bus groups. Excellent breakfast buffet; fair price.

Staff was extremely friendly. The hotel was on the small side, with a very small restaurant and bar.

Nice Hotel

Posted Jun 10, 2014
Pros: Location was good for what we wanted to do.
Cons: Ditch the big huge sink in the bathroom that takes up so much counter space!
Location: I was there on business so didn't do much. I'm from Richmond originally, so my wife visited friends while I was working.
Everything was fine except the bathrooms are just too small. For example, there is hardly any space to place toiletries while shaving etc. You have to put the lid down on the toilet and use that, especially since my wife had to have a place to put her things too. Otherwise, it was ok for a "spend the night" kind of place.

Nice chain, bad employees, worst comfort.

I have stayed at several holiday inn's before, this one is too old, reception employees don't acknowledge anybody you have to get their attention, not helpful at all. Pillows are the worst, too soft, even the firm ones are too soft. Very close to restaurants tough. .

The hotel was ok, needed a few things upgraded.

Posted Apr 21, 2014
Pros: I did like that the hotel offer breakfast.
Cons: More staff at night for late check-ins
Location: Surrounding area was great.
My experience was good but could have been better. The evening front desk person was nice but was very informative. I had called and requested a room with 2 beds and was told it was taken care of only to discover that it wasn't and I have to have a room w/King bed and while that would have been fine if we didn't have our 10 yr old son with us. The room did have a couch bed but it was very uncomfortable. So the stay was ok.

A bargain in a great location!

Pros: Very comfortable beds and the staff was very welcoming.
We stayed while visiting the University of Richmond. It's a great value and only a 10-15 min drive away. Not a lot around it but it worked well for us.

Didn't clean my room

Posted Mar 4, 2014
Pros: my bed was comfortable and
Cons: Staff, my room was not cleaned after the first night. I expect better than that at a Holiday Inn.
Location: fine
I felt breakfast was too expensive basically the same buffet style available at most other hotels that is included, but ok went to Deny's down the road much better and cheaper. Room was clean and normal same as any other Holiday Inn. We were there for a sporting event. After getting back to the room at about 8pm we fond the room had not been cleaned nothing no clean towels no one had been there. Was tired went to bed got up early and left.
