Old but clean hotel in downtown

Posted Jul 21, 2015
Staff was excellent, as you would expect from a full service Marriott. Hotel was clean but older and showing its age, particularly in the bathroom. Grout was dirty and the metal baseboards are rusting since there are no fans in the bathroom. I'd definitely stay here again.

Perfect place to stay in Richmond!

Posted Jul 13, 2015
Pros: Close to Rt. 95 and the Starbucks in the lobby
Cons: Had to request my room be cleaned 2 days in a row at 6pm..Front Desk staff was excellent though when I went to them.
Location: We walked to Confederate White House and Confederate Museum. Shuttle does bring you to restaurants and shops with in a mile.
Traveled to Richmond with my two teenage sons who were visiting a family member a half hour away. I found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. The valet staff was excellent as well and always quick with offering directions or information about the area. Although we rented a car, we were offered the shuttle service several times. The Starbucks in the lobby was a plus as was T-Millers being open until midnight. The hotel was very clean, very updated and a nice atmosphere in the lobby where we sat several times. There is a lot of history in Richmond and we did a trolley tour which was excellent. This tour was out of the visitor center right around the corner.. Some museums are within walking distance to the hotel but the area was easy to learn from the maps provided in the lobby. We drove to Kings Dominion Park which was a half hour a way off Rt. 95 (very easy to get there) Our overall experience here was excellent and I would definitely stay at the Marriott again if we come back.

Good Downtown Option

Posted Jul 13, 2015
Pros: Clean, updated and the staff was friendly and helpful.
Cons: Bathrooms suffer from the current trend in hotel renovations of not having hooks and towel bars. That was the only ding on the rooms.
Location: Near the convention center but a few blocks walk to restaurants. No shopping nearby.
Spent one night here for a quick trip to visit family. Staff was helpful and courteous and the rooms have been updated. The rates were a bit lower than the nearby Omni and Hilton Garden Inn. Self-parking is cheap at $8 and the garage is connected to the hotel and the convention center. There is a Starbucks in the lobby but the beware that any convention in town will make the line far too long. There is a good local shop a few minutes west on Broad. Our only gripe was the T Miller Sports Bar and Grill - there are better options around if you can get out of the hotel. We actually witnessed a waiter put a straw in our drink while it was waiting to be brought to us, put his finger over the hole and then lift it out and take a drink. They immediately made new drinks for us when we complained but didn't offer to comp the drinks or anything.

Nice hotel and very friendly staff. The hotel is close to the few tourist locations in town but a few miles from the livelier neighborhoods with food and bars. Nice play to stay for a first trip to Richmond.

Very nice gotel

Posted Jul 7, 2015
Everything about the hotel was great except that Thaler do not offer continental breakfast. For as much as you spend on the room, the breakfast should have been free. I could have gotten a cheaper hotel and been offered free breakfast. Other than that my stay was awesome!!

Centrally located, well maintained.

Posted Jun 29, 2015
Pros: It was clean, classy, and well furnished.
Cons: Better information about the parking situation is a must.
Location: Head over to Casa del Barco for some LOVELY food.
Overall the hotel was a pleasant experience, the staff were friendly, helpful, and the on site amenities were well handled. The only really disappointing part it is the parking. There is no street parking, and the only available parking is a pay by visit garage. The hotel does NOT validate parking, so you must pay every time you leave the garage. And at $8 a pop, and being in an area where it is likely not advisable to walk, well.. you feel a bit robbed by the constant paying for parking. NOR did the hotel mention this in the beginning. It really damaged my whole view of the stay.

We were only there for one night, but we couldn't have a better overnight stay. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and helpful. I will definitely stay there again if I'm back in the area.
