surprise in the lobby

Posted Jun 15, 2015
Pros: room was big
Cons: looks like they are in the process of renovating so I'll leave this part to the people that stay when everything is complete
Location: just a stopover on the way home and the hotel was sufficient
I was a little surprised that the clerk was behind glass and my transaction was done through what seemed like a bank tellers deal plate

This is a below average hotel.

Room stunk, front desk lady lacked people skills and this room wasn't worth the price.

Just what we needed

Posted Apr 20, 2015
Pros: It fulfilled our needs.
Cons: Nothing
Location: The location was close to the meeting location we there to attend.
We really enjoyed the lady that checked us in. Our room was just right and our night sleep was wonderful. The breakfast was good and the check out was fast.

Easy to get to.

Posted Mar 30, 2015
Pros: The ease of getting to it.
Cons: A few minor updates to the rooms would make it much better. Some paint touch ups, maybe some new blankets, and making sure the electronics work.
Location: It was right off the interstate so everything was easy to get to.
The hotel was very easy to get to and check in was a breeze. The staff was friendly and very welcoming. The continental breakfast was small but pleasant. The rooms were clean but our particular room the screen in the window was ripped and when I returned in the morning in between housekeeping, she had opened our window to air out the room and I saw the screen ripped and our stuff was laying out. The rooms could use some small updates. Our alarm clock didn't work and the toilet ran if you didn't jiggle the handle after you flushed it. Overall it was a comfortable hotel and was worth what we paid for it. Overall pleased with everything.

I'll stay here again if I travel back to Richmond.

Posted Mar 15, 2015
Pros: It was very clean for its price. I felt safe and able to relax fully. It was a mostly comfortable experience.
Cons: My bed was a little lumpy, but how high can your expectations be for a hotel bed, really?
Location: Next to I-95, MacDonald's across the street. 15 minute drive to downtown. Pretty isolated otherwise. Nothing close enough to walk to. Fine by me.
I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. Last time I found a bargain hotel, I regretted it the second I stepped inside. Not so here. I got in late at night, and the clerk was respectful, helpful and polite. I trudged upstairs exhausted and found the whole place SMELLED clean! What a relief. My room was similarly spotless. It had standard amenities like microwave, fridge, hair dryer, case. No iron or ironing board though. For a professional conference, I was a little unprepared. My only gripe with the room was that the bed wasn't super comfortable. Not much worse than I have back home, though. You get what you'd expect from the complimentary breakfast, but it was edible and what I had to sample from looked good. I came back the next night, and room service did a good job tidying up without disrupting my stuff. THANKS, Y'ALL! Overall, I had a nice, quiet, and comfortable place to rest during my stay. The place is right off of I-95 (literally seconds), and a 10 minute drive to downtown where the conference was being held. It's a quiet neighborhood, and I wasn't worried about the walk to and from my car. I reserved a month and a half in advance and got a killer deal. Do the same, if you can.

Ask for renovated room

Posted Mar 12, 2015 on Hotels
Stayed two separate one nights. One was in a renovated room, which was very nice, especially for the money. But the other night was in an older room, with holes in the carpet, gouges in the wall, non working heater, broken security lock. It was like night and day. Definitely ask for a renovated room!

Easy to get to and just outside the city limits. Stayed for a event at the convention center and travel back and forth was very easy.

Ask for renovated room

Posted Mar 10, 2015 on Hotels
I stayed 2 nights. The first was in a smoking room which was in the not yet renovated section of the hotel. It was in very bad shape: not able to engage the top lock, gouges in the rug and walls, heat did not work, etc. But the next night they were able to move me into a non-smoking room, which had been renovated and it was great - new bedding, new carpeting, painted, heater worked. Would not have guessed it was in the same building. But the staff was very pleasant.
