Good hotel close to all amenities

Posted Nov 7, 2013
Pros: It's proximity to places of interest
Cons: One morning the hotel had ran out of milk at breakfast and a guest had to nip to the local shop to buy some for his cereal. Not good customer service!
Location: Right in city centre close to shops restaurants bars local places of interest.
The hotel staff were very helpful, the breakfast was good, typical European breakfast with cold cheeses and hams, pastries, cereals and a few hot dishes which were unusual for a breakfast, like chicken in bread crumbs with boiled potatoes and hot vegetables. Toast was also available, a selection of fruit teas and coffee and Liptons black tea - nearest to English tea - ok a bit of a weak tea. Rooms were of a good size with nice bathrooms, the atrium seating areas were excellent, very spacious and well kept. Intending to stay here again next year due to it's close proximity to shops, restaurants, cafes and places of interest.

Good location, spacious room

The location is perfect, right in the old town, only 5-10 mins to Train / Bus Station & central market. Hotel is a bit old but lots of space, room is big. Breakfast is nice too.

Everything was really good. Clean, friendly and a perfect location. The breakfast was nothing spectacular but still OK. They have a small Sauna which you can rent, too.

Best location in Riga

Posted Sep 12, 2013
Pros: The location -- very central to everything!
Cons: With no A/C, you will need to keep your windows open at night for a pleasant night's sleep. Be aware that this is a lively (i.e. loud) location.
Location: Eat and drink in Livu Square (Old Town). Rent a row boat on the city canal. Just stare out your window and watch the excitement.
This hotel serves as a great home base in Riga. It's one short block to Old Town and the lively Livu Square with dining and music. One block the other direction and you are at the Freedom Monument -- Riga's landmark. Unlike hotels located in the restricted access of Old Town, this hotel is easy and cost effective for cabs. Bus and trolleys are easily accessible, too. Situated at the same intersection as Laima Clock, this is the main place for meeting of Riga people and guests. This is the bustling location where Old Town meets the prime commercial district. Location, location, location. The Scandinavian breakfast is a great way to start the day. Lots of delicious choices. The beautiful view makes the morning cup of coffee that much more enjoyable.

in loud downtown

Posted Aug 6, 2013 on Hotels.com
The stay wasn't too bad, but the rooms do not have A/C. Yes you can open the window and let cool air in but the city is up all night. Loud music and people out talking in the streets all night long. So you can either be hot in your room and sleep or have the window open and not sleep because of all the noise.

Nice hotel in cooler months

Posted Aug 1, 2013
Pros: Friendly and clean
Cons: Hot and noisy in the evening
Location: Very central in old Riga
This hotel is pleasant enough but it's location on the main cross road makes it very noisy all night, with a 24 hour Macdonalds opposite, trams and a stop off point for the bicycle taxi's, who play loud music. You can close the windows which shuts off all the noise but the hotel puts the heating on in the evening so you either sweat or listen to the noise all night. Great place to stay in the cooler months.
