“Small, but not uncomfortable”

Close to city center, just a short walk. The rooms are small but in Riga you wont want to stay in your room anyway!

“Ice cold in Riga!”

Great hotel with good food. Very friendly and helpful staff. Five minute walk from old town.Take plenty of clothes if you plan to visit Riga in the winter!

“Convenient and good value”

Look from miles around and the high-rise Academy of Sciences Building will provide a helpful landmark showing you close to the spot where Hanza Hotel is located. Walking through the market after hours to get there from the Old Town may not be to everyone's liking, but the barrier is psychological; this hotel really is close to the very centre, extremely handy for the bus and train stations and yet its immediate setting is quiet. It's well worth considering for your stay. The breakfast room is small and can get crowded if a coach party is staying, but the buffet served up is quite excellent. The pancakes got my vote. Bedrooms and bathrooms are well appointed (I liked my raised round washbasin), the only gripe being that the tv channels were not as listed. Everything was scrupulously clean and staff were both friendly and efficient and genuinely seemed to want to help. If this is the future of Latvia, woe betide we complacent citizens from Western Europe.

“Great hotel in Riga”

My husband and I enjoyed spending 5 nights in the Hanza Hotel. The hotel was walking distance to the Old Town, Market and Bus Station. It had a delicious full breakfast. We had one dinner there, which was excellent. The front desk personnel provided us with bus timetable and other particulars for a trip we took to Rondale Palace. The hotel rates were reasonably priced. The only negative was hearing some noisy people late evening outside our window for two of the nights. We would definitely return there.

“Clean and modern hotel”

Clean and modern hotel. The bed was really comfortable and the bathroom was spacious and well fitted out. The breakfasts were good too. The only drawback is that it is slightly off the beaten track and the walk back to the hotel on a night needs a bit of extra care.

“Value in Riga”

I have absolutely no complaints about the hotel per se, in fact I would go as far to say the service at reception was outstanding, especially when it came to City and transport information: I visited Jurmala and Sigulda using timetables provided by the desk. I thought this to be exceptional service as the hotel were advertising their own trips to Sigulda. The room was very spacious, especially for a single room with a spotlessly clean bathroom and superb air conditioning, a necessity in the temperatures Riga has recently experienced. Breakfast was an excellent choice of cereals, cold meats, cheeses,fruit and breads. The only downside to staying in the hotel is it's location; it takes a good 12 minute walk at a brisk pace to walk into the old town (add at least another 5 minutes to walk in the centre of the old town), although admittedly this is on the flat. You can, however, avoid this walk by taking the tram; the stop is a four minute walk from the hotel. A taxi costs 2.4 lats for the journey into the old city. That aside I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel as it does represent good value.

This is an excellent hotel - very clean, modern, comfortable beds and heated floor tiles in the bathroom. The Hanza pub in the cellar downstairs was cosy and served beautifully presented, delicious food at very reasonable prices. The old town is 10-15 minute walk past the central market and train station
