Reasonable Hotel in centre of old town Riga

Posted Sep 23, 2014
Pros: The location.
Cons: Bathrooms
Location: With its location there are lots of restraints , pubs and tourist locations within walking distance .
An excellent location the hotels decor may not appeal to all. However it is clean and at least for me the wifi worked well. Only a shower in my bathroom with a room that was meant to be superior was disappointing. Breakfast was not the best I have had in a hotel in Eastern Europe but it was good enough.

Take Earplugs

Posted Sep 16, 2014
Pros: As above
Cons: Triple glazed windows.
Location: Good location plenty of good places to eat, get out to the coast at Majori if you can.
There is a lot to recommend about the hotel, it's location is fantasic just off the square, the staff were helpful and pleasent the rooms well appointed (apart from only 1 pillow each which they remedied, I don't understand why any hotel thinks 1 pillow per rerson is enough). Breakfast selection was good if not a bit eclectic so lots going for it. The major down side to our stay was the noise from across the street on Saturday night. As we went to bed at midnight the noise was noticeable but not intrusive(with the window closed) but at 1 in the morning some bar or bars cranked up the volume and carried on until 6 in the morning. My partner (the clever one with ear plugs) slept through most of it but for me sleep was difficult at one point I was convinced the window was open it was that loud. On Sunday and Monday nights there wasn't an issue at all so it could be a one off issue or just a weekend issue however be warned.

Hotel Justus, Riga

Posted Sep 13, 2014
Pros: See above.
Cons: Staff could be a little warmer.
Location: Set in the middle of the old town it is in an excellent location. It's also near the river.
A lovely hotel that once formed part of an old church. You are reminded of this by the deliberate partial exposure of old brick through the rendering. Another nice touch were old relics found during the renovation displayed on the 3rd floor landing......a military forage cap dating around the mid to late 19th century and some old nails etc.... The room was pleasant & I particularly liked the old wardrobe. There is a good selection of food to suit all tastes at breakfast. The staff were a little aloof, only one receptionist was warm and smiley, all other receptionists I met & the breakfast staff were unsmiling and reserved. This might be part of the cultural behavior in Riga. Whilst out & about in town I held the door open at the entrance of a shopping mall twice & received no acknowledgement of thanks. But the hotel has a nice old worldy ambiance that I really liked. I would certainly recommend it due to it's central location in the old part of town and for anyone who enjoys staying in places with a sense of history.

Wonderful stay, couldn't fault it. Accommodated our request for a change of room away from the lifts. Breakfast completely fine. Wonderful location.

Lovely boutique hotel!

Posted Aug 20, 2014
Beautiful and comfortable hotel in the heart of the old town. Each room has its own unique style and our room was very nice. The hotel is very cosy, the staff are very friendly and helpful, the location is amazing - right at the back of the Dome cathedral. The room did get a little hot at nights and there are a few bars on the street right below, which get a bit noisy at weekends but during the week we didn't notice at all.

Pros: Great location, good breakfast, nicely renovated for both comfort and character, decor was a nice combination of original elements and newer artwork
Cons: Extra pillows (for reading in bed) would be a nice touch.
Location: Old town Riga, of course, but ine specific place worth a visit is the Museum of the Occupation (which has everything in three languages).
Thoroughly pleasant and restful (we stayed Sunday and Monday nights).

A Storybook Place in a Storybook part of Town!

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: As above - just about everything!
Cons: The hotel was very reasonable priced - still - I wouldn't consider it unreasonable to include the sauna in the room proce.
Location: As above - the location and street so historic and beautiful it was include on city/cruise tours! An ideal location for our own sightseeing.
What a beautiful little hotel on the most beautiful street in the most beautiful part of town. The hotel is neatly tucked in a street that was so beautiful and historic tours were brought in to look at it. Some of the interior walls are from the original Dome Cathedral from centuries ago! Rooms were small by North American standards but very comfortable. airy and well designed. Great view of the street scape from the room window and, when we opened the windows music poured in all day and most of the night. Silence when we closed them. Breakfast was incredible! None of this out of the package, muffin and frozen pats of butter - none at all. It was as good as any A La Carte meal you could order for 50 Euros! Never needed a lunch while staying there. Staff ALWAYS accommodating and willing to go the extra mile. Only one down side - the sauna (whch we assumed came with the room price) was 15 Euros. Beyond that - we look forward to staying there again!

Great location

Posted Jun 26, 2014 on Hotels.com
Hotel information said that car parking was available. In practice, car parking was about half mile walking and longer driving away at a Europark. Reception said that local parking was no longer available despite me reserving a space. Hotel was in good location in centre of town. It didn't have tea making facilities. Room was comfortable but staff at breakfast were over zealous in clearing plates. Would stay again.
