“Old City Boutique Hotel in Rega”
Ilona and Michael were very pleasant and helpful welcoming us to the hotel and getting us settled. The location was excellent with shopping nearby, and the Market and Old Town within easy walking distance. Even the bus station was a manageable walk. Our room was rather small, but we managed.
“Badly disappointed in Old City Boutique Hotel”
We dcame to this hotel having read e good reviews. Sadly disappointed. We came by bus (Luxbus—very good) from Tallinn. The hotel has spent a lot on pretentious gewgaws, but is chintzy on necessities. Example: no Kleenex or shower cap, the slippers and bathrobes are 10 Euros extra. A call to the front desk (what is Kleeenex?) produced an open half-used box of Kleenex. Tacky curtains, mirror in the room, chandelier, fake Tuscany ambiance and colors, but limited storage space, poor, small old TV. Cheap pictures on wall, no place to put luggage ( room too small.), only one chair, uncomfortable bathroom, (good bathtub and shower.) The toilet seat does not stand up, no place to put things down, no shelves . Towel’s quality very poor. There is a sign in the bathroom: “a penalty to sit on the ledge (a useless space beyond the bathtub, the only place to put things on, but gets wet with a shower) is 100 Littas.” Room instruction: “we are not responsible for loss of valuables”, however, no safe in the room, no “do not disturb sign”. Our room was in a second house (you had to go outside to get to the house.). No fitted bed sheet, sheet just slides off the mattress. Only two glasses in the bathroom, none in room, there is a bar/refrigerator in the room with plenty of space. Free wireless in room. Breakfast: Most things on cheap side. (Espresso, not bad.) No fish, tiny pieces of cheeses. Fruit, a limited selection of yoghurts, no nuts of any kind. All on the cheap…
“"Great location and Clean"”
From start, to finish of our stay, everything was excellent, The staff was congenial and spoke English. The room and bathroom was clean, and roomy, The breafast was generous, located in a pleasant dining setting. It is in a great location in old town. One of our treats was to go to 2 different resturants which we highly recommend. Lido's -away from old town (make sure to ask for the large one with other activites because there are more than one Lido's in the city. Ask at the desk as they probably have information about it. For a reasonable fee you can get a taxi) . The food was good and they have performances on an outside stage, (performing authentic singing and dances at no extra charge), plus other activities for adults and children in the area. The other resturant was in old town. Ask around for the resturant that is an old wine celler built around the 1500's. It was a little pricey but worth the extra money because the food was great and the entire experience something to remember.
“Vilnius for Easter”
Very central hotel with great personnel, decent breakfast and fine room.
“Newly remodelled and in a great location”
It's a nice little hotel in a quiet location, and it's been newly remodelled so the rooms are all in pretty good shape. I was totally satisfied and would definitely stay here again if coming to Riga.
“Super Hotel”
Wonderful hotel. Food was excellent and service superb. Convenient location. Would highly recommend this hotel and will stay here again in November.
“Great location, great room, great service @ not a bad price”
Of the three hotels I stayed while in the Baltics this was my favorite. Start with the location. It is very easy walking distance from the main bus station, even with luggage. The bus to the airport is even closer. (a savings of about $20 each way). Better yet the hotel is located on a side street in the old town. Again easy walks to anything I wanted to see, lots of places to eat. Because it was on a side street it was very quiet at night, The room is very nicely decorated as is the hotel. The breakfast was excellent, fresh with many choices. Both the young ladies at the desk some some English and were very helpful (they provides a map and explained where the sites were and what bus to take to the airport). If I ever make it back to Riga, I will try and stay at the Boutique Hotel Viesturs.
“Riga - Stockholm of the East”
This hotel is centrally located and reasonably priced. During my stay, water from upstairs was dripping into my bathroom. When I asked the reception, they told me this was going to take more time to fix. But then I did not know why they put me there. The front desk staff was ok, quite Soviet. Helpful yes, warm, cordial no. Room was however quite nice, not at all what you would expect in a hotel in this price category. Breakfast was fairly good. I recommend staying in this hotel, nevertheless, I am sure there are even better ones. Having said that, the location, near the old city center (Unesco World Heritage Site) was superb.
